Royals’ Comeback Kids Rule the World
“Never Die, Never Quit Attitude” Said Lorenzo Cain to Erin Andrews after winning the 2015 World Series. That motto has been I’m full display throughout the 2015 postseason, as after last nights win made it the 8th comeback victory this postseason for the young ball club that seemed to never quit. The Royals who constantly fought and scratched their way back into games did so again against the Mets and Harvey.
The Royals were down 2-0 going into the top of the ninth against Harvey. Harvey walked the first batter Lorenzo Cain, who later stole second base, continuing the aggressive style of play, and erasing any potential double plays. Eric Hosmer then hit a double to bring in Cain and cut the deficit to 1. Harvey was then pulled, and the Royals scored another run on Lucas Dudas’ wild throw to d’Arnaud on Hosmer’s aggressive attempt of home. Hosmer tied the game, and later said “That’s our motto: we want to be aggressive as a team…You realize with the guy on the mound, how nasty he[Familia] is, you have to take chances…” and Hosmer did, tying the game at 2 and help bring the game to extras.
Then, in the 12th inning the Royals exploded for five runs that was started by World Series MVP Salvador Perez’s bloop single that started the rally. Wade Davis then came in to seal the deal in the bottom of the 12th, as he’s done all season. Davis struck out Lucas Duda and Travis d’Arnaud to start the inning, he then let up a single to Michael Comforto with Wilmer Flores up next. Comforto the took second base, with Flores down in the count 1-2. On Davis’ 20th pitch, he threw a 95 mph fastball in the inside corner to strike out Flores looking to clinch the World Series for the Kansas City Royals. Royals’ reliever Ryan Madson said, “There’s nothing anybody could do. It’s nobody’s fault that anybody lost.
This team was just going to win, no matter what.” this team knew along that not they’d be destined to make it back to the World Series, but to finish what they couldn’t last year and bring home their first Championship since 1985 and that is exactly what this young, resilient, fundamentally sound squad did.https://www.myfantasysportstalk.com/royals-comeback-kids-rule-world/https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/a1.jpg?fit=1024%2C576&ssl=1https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/a1.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1BaseballMLBRecent Posts#MLB,#Royals,Mets,World Series'Never Die, Never Quit Attitude' Said Lorenzo Cain to Erin Andrews after winning the 2015 World Series.
