World Cup Final Preview

Once you get to this point in the World Cup, you’re expected to win it all, no matter who you are. And these four teams are no exception. France, Spain, and Germany are expected to win every tournament they take part in. And with Belgium in the midst of their golden generation, they are expected to win tournaments they are in too. So who will deliver on those expectations, and who will go back to their home country completely empty handed?

France vs Belgium

When you look at some of the names from these teams that will be watching the World Cup from their couches, it’s won’t come as a surprise to see either team make it this far. France has world-class players everywhere on their team, but at any given time, Belgium can have the best two players on the field. Both teams are very evenly matched, but the difference will be the experience that both teams have. France have played in some huge matches, and they will come out on top 2-0.

Spain vs Germany

A battle of the last two World Cup winners. Spain will be looking for redemption after not making it out of their group in 2014, while Germany will be looking to go back-to-back. Both teams have great center back pairings and even better goalies. Germany has a slightly better attack, and in a game where each team might only get one or two legit chances at goals, that will prove to be the difference. Germany will win 1-0 and have their eyes set on winning again.

Third place match: Belgium vs Spain

Both teams would be happy with reaching the final four, even if they do end up in this third place match. Belgium has tons of talent but are still pretty young, and Spain are going to start relying on players they haven’t had to on a stage like this.
Sometimes in these third place matches, you get teams that don’t try their hardest. But I don’t believe that that will be the case in this one. Spain will have some youngesters that will won’t to show that they can be key pieces for the national team going forward. And Belgium will want to have something that they can build on going forward to the 2020 Euros and even for the 2022 World Cup. And Belgium is the better team and will want to show that making it this far wasn’t a fluke. They’ll beat Spain 2-0 to finish in third place.

Final: Germany vs France

And now time for the match that all 32 teams in this World Cup will want to play in! And this final should be a good one. Germany will be 90 minutes away from their second straight World Cup, while France will be 90 minutes away from getting redemption from the 2016 Euros final loss.
On top of having the talent to win it all, both teams also have the experience to do so. Both midfields are pretty even, but France will have a slight advantage in attack, and Germany will have a slight advantage in defense. Germany will have a few more chances than France, and they will capitalize on more of these chances. Germany will win, 2-1, and will be world champions once again.
