The wait is over for Sergio Garcia. He not only won the 2017 Master’s tournament but also his first career major.Sergio Garcia

This year’s Master’s was Garcia’s 74th career major. A professional career that started in 1999, finally gets its first major win.

Sergio started on Thursday with a bogey-free, -1 round. He was the only player to shoot par or better on every hole that day. It was an incredible feat considering the wind was gusting up to 40 miles per hour all day.

He followed up that performance with a -3, 69 on Friday. This had him set up for a great run going into the weekend.

On Saturday, the wind subsided which helped a lot of golfers, but Garcia was only able to muster a -2, 70. Despite a round that wasn’t as good as other around the course, Garcia entered the last day with a share of the lead.

The day started off well for Garcia as he birdied two of the first three holes. The back nine gave him a rough time as he bogeyed both the 10th and 11th holes. It seemed as though Justin Rose would run away with it at that point.

However, on the turn of the 14th and 15th, Garcia was able to birdie and eagle them respectively. As he played par the last three holes, it forced a playoff with Rose.

A birdie on the playoff hole was enough to give Garcia his first major and the coveted green jacket.
