SmackTalk’s Top 4 Potential 2018 Royal Rumble Winners
With the summer winding down and SummerSlam behind us, the SmackTalk team wants to pick who they think should win the 2018 Royal Rumble in January. In case you didn’t know, the Royal Rumble is a WWE ppv where the 30 man Royal Rumble match takes place with the winner receiving a World Championship title match at WrestleMania. The picks were about to make are not in any order, they’re just our opinion on who we think needs and deserves to win the prestigious Royal Rumble match in order to help further storylines, start new storylines and or help their respective WWE careers.
Macho Man Matty Savage –
My current pick to win the Royal Rumble is Samoa Joe. Joe, despite being a heel, is so over with the fans. He had a phenomenal run in NXT and has been a force on RAW since the call up. Unfortunately an injury has set him back a few months. A Royal Rumble victory could help boost him right back into the main event picture, where he has already shown that is where he belongs.
My favorite to win the 2018 Royal Rumble is none other than Kevin Owens. I believe Kevin Owens’ run with the United States Championship has concluded with Shane McMahon coming into the mix. We all know that there will be a match by the next PPV between the both of them. Shane McMahon, who has put on great matches, won’t win against KO. With that being said, Kevin Owens will bring super heat that will carry him to be the one to go against the boss and win the Royal Rumble and later have his well deserved WrestleMania moment.
Tim Ohhh –
The superstar who I believe should win the Royal Rumble this year is not a mega-star like Cena, or Roman Reigns, but one of the best upcoming superstars in Kevin Owens. There are a ton of deserving superstars this year from AJ Styles to Braun Strowman and even Samoa Joe, but Kevin Owens is the guy right now. On this weeks past episode of SmackDown Live, he received a rub from the boss man himself Vince McMahon. It takes a special talent, and somebody Vince must have a lot of trust in for him to go out there, take a headbutt, superkick, and frog splash, and get busted open at his current age. I expect a big year from Kevin Owens going forward.
Insider BA –
When I look at the current WWE roster, a few superstars come to mind who deserve to win the 2018 Royal Rumble. AJ Styles, Finn Balor, The Miz, Kevin Owens, and of course “The Monster Among Men,” Braun Strowman. As much as I want to pick Braun to win, I personally think the superstars mentioned above sort of have a direction and will probably have a storyline going into WrestleMania. That’s why my favorite to win the 2018 Royal Rumble is “The Underdog from the Underground,” Sami Zayn. Sami is a hell of a competitor who has yet to receive any type of moment. Lately he has been losing to Aiden English and has seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle on SmackDown Live. When I look at Sami Zayn I see the B player gimmick that Triple H kept saying to Daniel Bryan. How did that gimmick play out? Oh yeah Daniel Bryan went onto main event and win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania. So I personally see this years Royal Rumble ending with either Braun Strowman or Kevin Owens (who will be extremely hated by the McMahon’s and possibly Triple H) battling it out with Sami Zayn as the final two competitors with “The Underdog from the Underground” winning and finally getting his deserving moment at the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania.
Now we know it’s early and things can change but leave a comment below because we want to hear who you think deserves to win the 2018 Royal Rumble!
