New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard was carted off the field early in Wednesday’s practice with an apparent leg injury. Sterling Shepard

Shepard appeared to be in significant pain while trainers treated him. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. came over to check on the situation. Shepard was helped to his feet, but needed the assistance of trainers to stand. After a few minutes, a cart was summoned and Shepard was taken off the field for further evaluation.

Coach Ben McAdoo will be asked to provide an update on Shepard’s condition when practice concludes around 1 p.m.

Speaking with a person who was at the practice which was open to the public, he saw Shepard visibly crying and shaking his head as if he knew something in his leg was torn.

While no official word has been released, I expect the confirmation that Shepard is indeed out for the season. This is a crushing blow to a Giants WR corps that was considered the best in the league. Roger Lewis, Tavarres King and Dwayne Harris are listed behind Shepard on the teams depth chart.
