Supergirl Recap

Supergirl recap

Female superheroes. I admit. I love them. This week’s episode of Supergirl, “Fort Rozz” took girl power to a new level. Just when you think Fort Rozz has been banished to the outer realms of the universe, surprise! Of course the floating prison has ended up near a blue star which renders Supergirl’s powers useless. She needs a team. She asks for help in the most unexpected place: Livewire. Livewire has ended up waiting tables. That alone makes the episode worth watching. Come to find out she’s trying to keep herself hidden from Reign, who has killed many of her friends. Supergirl convinces her to help, but Livewire insists it’s only to take down Reign. Nothing more. Sure, keep telling yourself that, Leslie.

In addition to Livewire, Supergirl gets Psi out of custody, albeit with a mind power inhibitor still intact. Rounding out the team is Saturn Girl who pilots the ship to Fort Rozz. The plan is to find Jindah Kol Rozz, who Fort Rozz is named after. Jindah is played by Sarah Douglas from the first two Superman movies. Using these actors from the other films does not get old for me.

The B-story in this one is Alex watching Ruby while Sam goes on a business trip for L Corp. We get to see Alex help Ruby deal with some cyberbullying and Ruby helps Alex deal with having a text from Maggie pop up which brings up all kinds of feelings.

This episode is packed with action and story. I feel like it is one of the strongest episodes of Season 3 so far. Reign/Sam is battling for control over herself. Sam confided to Alex that she has been losing blocks of time. Seems like we are getting closer to the pieces getting put together.

Livewire as a hero? Seems hard to believe, but it’s a satisfying and bittersweet plotline. I’ve come to enjoy her character. I’m also really excited with how many female characters there were on this episode. If only this were a constant! Check it out. It’s a fun ride!
