Alright, so I’m going to change things up a bit with this article on Survivor. I’m beginning to realize, as the early weeks progress in this game, that its hard to do a power rankings for this show in the early goings. The people I feel like are top performers will sometimes go a week without doing much of anything, making the power rankings aspect hard to manage when there are still so many castaways. So instead, I’m going to shift this article to a stock watch, highlighting the key castaways from each episode and telling you whether their stock is rising or falling. Once the field gets thinned a bit more, probably a little past merge, I’ll switch back to the power rankings concept. For now, let’s look at who made some moves this week and who got knocked down a few pegs.

Tai (Beauty) – Stock Going Up

It was a very good week for Tai, who was the first contestant in the game to get his hands on a Hidden Immunity Idol. However, Tai discovered that there is a special aspect to the idols this year. If Tai can find the second hidden idol on his beach, he can combine the two to form a Super Idol (nice job with the name Survivor creative), which can be played after the votes are read. This gives Tai a ton of power and leverage and, as long as his tribe continues to win challenges, he can hold on to that power until the right strategic time. Tai also benefitted from the fact that Anna and Caleb (two frontrunners in my book), seem to be turning their attention to Nick, a tribe member who is alienating himself from the group. Any attention away from Tai benefits him and with a secret power, he could position himself well moving forward.

Jason (Braun) – Stock Going Slightly Up , Alecia (Braun) – Stock Going Down Again

The interactions between these two on their beach affected both of their stocks, so I’ll pair them here. After stumbling across a clue for a hidden idol, Alecia was caught searching for the idol by Jason. Jason, who is running things on his tribe, proceeded to pick up the search in place of Alecia, eventually finding the idol for himself and Scot. Throughout this ordeal, Cyndy, someone who Alecia thought she could trust, confessed the idol search to the men on the tribe, and Alecia was completely ignored (and ran over at one point) during the search. She’s done. Jason only moves up slightly here, however, because he continues to show his inability to display tact in any form. His social game is VERY weak and, although an idol helps, he may find himself out of this game very quickly after the merge.

Debbie (Brain) – Stock Going Up , Peter (Brain) – Stock Going Way Down

Very interesting week from the Brain tribe, where the power dynamic shifted drastically. Peter and Liz, two tribe members who felt they could easily manipulate the rest of their tribe were blindsided when Liz (who has the deadest eyes I’ve ever seen) was blindsided at tribal. This pushes Peter immediately to the bottom of his tribe, and there is no way he’s going to get back from that. His best hope here is some sort of tribe swap, where he can hopefully get his cockiness and hubris under control. Debbie, on the other hand, showed her ability to orchestrate a blind-side by rallying the rest of the tribe against Liz and Peter. Speaking to each other member, Debbie was able to set her plan in motion, and it worked. I still think Neal is the best competitor on this tribe because he is laying low while simultaneously being involved, but Debbie put herself in a good position to make a move toward the merge.
