After winter break, Teen Wolf returned last night with episode six entitled “Ghosted”. The last time we saw the pack, they recovered the key for Roscoe, Stile’s jeep, from a crispy Peter Hale, who had returned from the ghost riders’ hideout. Scott and Lydia were able to communicate with Stiles via the jeep’s radio. He tells them to go to Canaan before the connection ends. This week, they do just that.

A Trip to Canaan

In a dream, Lydia is transported through a mirror and ends up in Canaan. She witnesses the citizens getting snatched by the ghost riders. The next day, the pack find Canaan on a thirty-year-old map and take a trip. Things take a strange turn in the town when they start hallucinating. Malia sees the bodies of her sister and mother before Theo appears and shoots her.  Scott sees his mother who appears to be missing a chunk from the back of her head.

Like something out of a horror flick, they follow a young boy to a house where an overly chipper woman greets them. She’s pleasant until they start asking questions about why Canaan is empty. When Malia asks if they “disappeared in a cloud of green smoke” the woman yells, which seems to shake them all. When they try to leave the house locks down. The woman, whose name is Lenora, turns out to be a banshee who was left unharmed by the riders. She also says that they brought back her dead son. Lenora and Lydia face off in a banshee scream off while Malia and Scott begin to die in the basement the same way Lenora’s son died; drowning. Lydia is able to see the day the riders come into the town and how they surround Lenora but don’t take her.

She tells Lydia that she won’t be taken before unlocking the house.

Papa Argent and Mama McCall

In the hospital, Chris’ body fights off some kind of infection caused by the rider’s whip. Melissa must once again help someone dodge the operating room because of the supernatural. Argent begins to list off the ingredients to a serum that can help him, but he only knows them in Celtic. He soon loses consciousness mid-sentence, leaving Melissa to translate them on her own. Using a pretty legit translator app and her medical skills again, she creates the paste that cures Argent.

Junior Varsity

Liam and Hayden plan to capture a ghost rider while Scott is out of town and end up teaming up with Mr. Douglas who overhears their conversation. The teacher says he saw the riders and wants to fight back; probably not the truth with his homicidal past. They realize their plan isn’t the best and get in contact with Noshiko Yukimura, who brings Kira’s sword. She warns them about what they are about to do before leaving. Like Kira did last season, Liam thrusts the sword into the ground opening a portal to the other side. To their surprise, Theo Raeken climbs out. The pair and Douglas try to get him to use his ability to absorb electricity but it turns out that he no longer has Josh or Tracey’s powers.

They prepare to send him back but he remembers Stiles and mentions he knows about the ghost riders from the Dread Doctors.

When Scott and the girls return, they are not happy to see Theo. Scott is able to remain relatively calm but Malia is having none of it as usual. At Stilinski house, Claudia wakes up to find Noah sitting at the kitchen table. He assures her that he’s fine before walking down the hallway. The episode ends with the Sheriff noticing the peeling wallpaper before he begins to pull on it. The camera zooms in on his shocked expression.

Final Thoughts on this week’s Teen Wolf

For a beta who wanted to reclaim his alpha’s trust last season, Liam is doing a lot. Trusting Douglas and then contacting Kira’s mother was a big risk. I can already picture the scolding he’s going to get from his alpha. While I loved seeing Noshiko back on the show, it’s not as satisfying without Arden Cho appearing as Kira, especially with how things ended behind the scenes between the Teen Wolf higher-ups and Arden. You can check out her explanation from earlier this year here. It was pretty cool to meet another banshee but I would like to see one who was sane besides Lydia. It would give our girl some hope about her future.

What did you think about this week’s Teen Wolf? Were you happy about Theo’s return?
