Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks, like the rest of the Eastern Conference are trying to rearrange their roster to compete with the champion, Cleveland Cavaliers. In a very expected move, the Hawks traded one of their most consistent players, Jeff Teague, to his home state of Indiana. As mentioned earlier, Teague had been very consistent for the Hawks, but he was not meeting the teams expectations. With the trade, the Hawks received the 12th pick from the Utah Jazz. With the pick, they selected Forward, Taurean Prince from Baylor.

Yes, many of you may remember Prince from his hilarious interview after Baylor’s loss to Yale in NCAA Tournament.

Many Hawks fans were not expecting it, but it is actually a good pick up for the Hawks. Prince can play Power and Small Forward, but he will mainly be used at the three. He is big and he is not afraid of taking those long jump shots, which is key for the Hawks.

With the 21st pick, the Hawks selected SG/SF DeAndre Bembry from Saint Joseph’s. Bembry is a good defender, and he is good at getting to the basket. The Hawks current shooting guard, Kyle Korver, is a perimeter shooter. He will not do a lot of driving to the basket. It is nice to know we will have a SG to do just that. He can also play SF, so it will be interesting to see what Coach Bud will do with that.

The Hawks drafted SG Isaia Cordinier with the 44th pick out of France. He is very athletic and can create his own shot. It will not be surprising if the Hawks ship him to the D-League to develop more as a NBA player.

The Hawks final pick was Kay Felder from Oakland. However, they sent him to Cleveland. Overall, the Hawks had a solid draft. Drafting two potential small forwards, it is safe to say that the Hawks are not sure what will happen with Kent Bazemore. It will be interesting to see how all of this play out. Lets just get ready for July 1, the start of free agency.
