microsoft e3 2017

Microsoft was very busy at this year’s E3, riding off of last year’s announcement of Project Scorpio, it’s no surprise that they used the momentum of the “Most powerful console in the world” as the main event of their conference. Project Scorpio, now known as the Xbox One X, wasn’t all they relied on however, Microsoft showed off over 40 games, almost all of which appear to be exclusive to Xbox and PC. Even though they announced so many games, a lot of them do look a little boring or generic and most of the best one’s appear to be the one’s that aren’t exclusive. With so much announced from Microsoft, here is the best.

xbox one x

The headliner of Microsoft this year and the one that everyone is talking about is the brand new Xbox console which is currently the most powerful console in the world, it even rivals the technology of some high-end PC’s. The Xbox One X is the first gaming console to support 4k graphics, the console is smaller and sleeker than the Xbox One and is compatible with all Xbox One games. The console will cost $499/ £449 and will launch on November 7th.

Assassins Creed: Origins

assassins creed origins

The newest Assassins Creed is to be set in Ancient Egypt and will feature a protagonist named Bayek who is the last of Medjay. The game has been in production since early 2014 and has a lot of new added game mechanics to the Assassins Creed franchise like being able to control where arrow’s you shoot go and even a new version of Eagle Vision. The game will be on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and is set to be released on October 27th 2017.

anthem ea

Anthem was actually announced at the EA conference but was officially revealed with a gameplay trailer at the Microsoft one. Anthem is a brand new IP that looks really interesting. Anthem seems to be an MMO that takes elements from games such as Titanfall and destiny. The game is set for release in Fall of 2018 and will be on Xbox One, PlayStation and PC.

Crackdown 3

The newest Crackdown game was officially revealed this year with an explosive gameplay trailer featuring Terry Crews. I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of the previous two Crackdown’s but this game looks pretty entertaining and fun. The interesting aspect to the game is that the new engine it runs on apparently allows every single thing in-game to be destroyed. The game is set to be released along with the Xbox One X on November 7th 2017. The game will not be on PlayStation 4.

Sea of Thieves

sea of thieves

Sea of Thieves was one of the more interesting games shown by Microsoft last year and this year we saw a lot more information and gameplay of the Pirate-themed game. The game is set in an open world in which players have to join together on a single pirate ship and take on different roles. The game is also set in a shared world so that players can run into each other all the time. Sea of Thieves will be on Xbox One and PC and is set to be released sometime in early to mid 2018.

They were all of the announcements that I enjoyed the most but the following are some things that definitely deserve to be mentioned….

  • State of Decay 2 will be released in 2018.
  • Starting over the Summer, original Xbox games will become playable on Xbox One.
  • Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox in November.
  • Forza Motorsport 7 looks beautiful.
  • Life is Strange: Before the Storm (a prequel).
  • Metro Exodus looks crazy in a good way.
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps looks as interesting as the first game.

Microsoft really upped their game this year with the amount of games they announced, I hope none of them get stuck in development hell but at the moment it looks like this is proving to be an amazing year for Xbox.
