We had said he was an option earlier in the day, and it came to fruition. The Buffalo Bills traded up to 41st overall to snag Alabama LB Reggie Ragland. He is the second defensive player the Bills have drafted in as many rounds as they took Clemson DE Shaq Lawson yesterday. Reggie Ragland

Ragland, an old-school middle linebacker fits nicely in Rex Ryan’s defensive scheme and will instantly upgrade a position that struggled in 2015. Ragland fell in the draft due to an enlarged aorta and lack of coverage skills, but has the talent to have a long NFL career.

He led the Tide with 97 tackles, 6.5 for loss, and broke up six passes, winning SEC Defensive Player of the Year, numerous All-American honors and landing finalist spots for multiple national awards. In fact, Ragland was the third Alabama player to earn unanimous All-American notice, joining Cornelius Bennett and Derrick Thomas.

The Bills gave up a decent amount to get their man. They acquired the selection from the Chicago Bears, and gave up the 49th overall selection, their first of two fourth-round picks (117th overall) this year, and a fourth-round pick next year.
