The Buffalo Brass : “McBeane”
Well it is safe to say that it has been tough sledding for the Buffalo Bills organization over the past 48 hours as horrifying news dropped in regards to the personal life of arguably the team’s best player in running Back LeSean McCoy. As we get more details of the entire situation My Fantasy Sports Talk will keep you up to date but for now let’s talk about the current regime that is dealing with the situation.
Often referred to as “McBeane” in Western New York, Sean McDermott the Head Coach of the Bills and Brandon Beane the current General Manager of the Bills are 100% on the same page on and off the field as far as the day-to-day operations of the organization which is a far cry from previous regimes to say the least. Both men have worked towards reshaping the image that is the Buffalo Bills organization. Let me make this as clear as I can right out of the gate, I can tell you for certain that if these accusations towards LeSean McCoy prove to be true he will be outright released from the Buffalo Bills. Beane and especially McDermott have worked far too hard to let a circumstance as disgusting as this to destroy this team. That is not just an opinion that is fact and I can let history speak for itself.
Over the last couple of seasons we have seen this duo part ways with presumed “character issues” such as Sammy Watkins and Marcell Dareus. Watkins was a player that the Bills’ previous regime invested heavily in. Watkins admitted once he was traded that he was “not the best teammate” and that he “easily could have been better in Buffalo” and ‘McBeane’ pushed the trade button as quick as a 10 year-old would playing Madden NFL 18.
Dareus was a player that the Bills had been shopping throughout the last two seasons prior to actually trading him due to a wide variety of issues on and mostly off the field. Dareus was perceived around the organization and especially the fan base as a player that once he got his $100 million dollar extension, his best playing days were behind him. He cashed out, he collected a check, and that was all she wrote for Marcell in Buffalo.
For every move the Bills made to improve the team off the field, they have made plenty to help their team on the field. If you take a gander at the last two Buffalo Bills’ offseasons they have checked off every box and then some. Tre White, Dion Dawkins, Micah Hyde, and Jordan Poyer to name just a few as well as finding an underrated kicker Stephen Hauschka who can actually kick in the weather elements.
Bills fans around the nation clamored for Buffalo to go out and get that “franchise quarterback” that everybody talks about and they did. Trading up from 12th overall to 7th overall to select Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen. A move that I can describe as an exciting moment for me as a Bills fan and then Buffalo made a move that was arguably the STEAL of the 2018 NFL Draft as Buffalo used its extra third round selection to move from 22nd to 16th overall and select Virginia Tech Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane have created a new culture here in Buffalo and despite the possible fallout of LeSean McCoy there is zero doubt that the Buffalo brass has righted the ship. Regardless of the potential regression win-loss record wise during the 2018-2019 season the Bills are far more respected around the NFL and for that I say… thank you “McBeane“
