With HIAC now a few days behind us, there are many questions that need answering! What an absolute CRAZY ending to this PPV! Let’s go through my thoughts on each match of the night.

1. The Usos def. The New Day (c) (HIAC)

  • Hell in a Cell wasted NO time getting the crowd into it with an epic opening match! The Usos and the New Day put on a hell of a tag team match and utilized the hell in a cell structure perfectly. I genuinely loved every minute of this match and even consider it a very good candidate for co-match of the night! I was a bit surprised to see Jimmy and Jey come out of this one victorious, but I’m not upset about it. With this being dubbed the end of this feud, what is next for both teams?

2. Randy Orton def. Rusev

  • It was nice to see both of these superstars get more than a 10 second match in for once, buuuttt….the wrong man won. RUSEV needed this victory much more than Randy. Rusev needs a big victory against someone like Orton to propel him to the next level. I’m starting to see Rusev as the equivalent to RAW’s Bray Wyatt, poorly booked. I want to see more of Rusev, and more of him in a main event picture!

3. Baron Corbin def. AJ Styles (c) & Tye Dillinger

  • If not for the hell in a cell matches, this one would take match of the night from me. Great wrestling and story telling from all of the superstars involved. Once I saw the last minute addition of Dillinger into this match, I knew AJ was going to be dropping the title. I am really not a fan of Corbin, but I’m intrigued to see how he does going forward with the United States title around his waist.

4. Charlotte Flair def. Natalya (c) via DQ

  • Aaandd the dud of the night goes to this match. I was just not into this one whatsoever. I get the DQ finish to keep the feud going, but I expected a lot more than what I saw in this one. Natalya’s run as Women’s Champion has been forgettable and needs to come to an end sooner rather than later.

5. Jinder Mahal (c) def. Shinsuke Nakamura

  • What a crap match. It was better than their Summerslam encounter, but pretty much the same story. Singh Brothers interfere, Jinder gains an upper-hand and gets a victory. Meh, I am over it. I stressed it in our most recent podcast but I’ll mention it again – Jinder’s run as WWE Champion needs to end, and Shinsuke is NOT the one that should end it. I’m done with this feud, give me something new and refreshing.

6. Bobby Roode def. Dolph Ziggler

  • An average match between the two, which saw Roode pick up a victory with some help from grabbing the tights. The ending surprised me a bit, and Dolph’s post match Zig-Zag pretty much lets everyone know that this feud isn’t over yet. I am curious to see where they go from here.

7. Kevin Owens def. Shane McMahon (HIAC)

  • WOW! What a freakin’ match this was. I thought the Usos/New Day opening bout was gonna be tough to top as match of the night, but this one was right up there with it! Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens told a great story inside and outside of hell in a cell in an instant classic. WWE gave these guys quite a bit of time to go at it, almost 40 minutes to be exact. This feud has become very personal and they showed such great emotion throughout the match. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time they were on top of the cell! I really thought Shane was gonna pick up the win once KO went through the table. But with how personal this feud has gotten, Shane had to try putting a final nail in the coffin by jumping off the top of the cell onto KO. To EVERYONE’S surprise, Sami freakin’ Zayn saves Kevin Owens and Shane goes through the table and loses the match. My goodness..the ending was absolutely insane!! I am extremely anxious to see why Sami did it. My guess is he is going to blame Shane for the lack of opportunity he’s gotten since coming over to Smackdown Live. We will see!

Overall Rating:

Half of the matches were just average or below average, but the matches between Usos/New Day, Corbin/AJ/Dillinger, and Shane/KO alone made me give this PPV a 4 out of 5 stars.
