the mick season 2

The Mick is back! Tonight was the season 2 premier of Fox’s newest hit comedy and it was just as funny as before, if not better.

We see Mickey, Jimmy, Chip, Sabrina, Ben, and Alba living the dream at a hotel when they find out from their accountant, Barry, that they’ve been spending too much money and he is freezing their account and has booked them a room at another cheaper hotel. They are furious with this and try to come up with a way to get back into their high price hotel.

Alba has been drinking too much and is scaring Ben and while Mickey, Sabrina, Chip and Jimmy are out, he sees a preacher talking on tv about demons and decides to tie up a passed out Alba to the bed. When she wakes up, he starts reading the entire Bible to her while she screams.

Mickey takes Barry’s phone and discovers that he is gay because he has a gay dating app on it. His phone wallpaper is a picture of him with a woman and kids and she assumes it’s his wife and kids. They come up with a plan to find an escort to woo him so they can use it as blackmail to get him to unfreeze their money. They end up finding one in a back alley but the guy is a mess and on drugs. They take him for a bit of a makeover and get him some clean clothes and watch the magic happen while he drives off behind Barry’s car and hits him and when Barry gets out of the car, they guy tells him that he’s beautiful and the two seem to hit it off.

Jimmy tries to teach Chip how to enjoy the benefits of living in the hotel without actually paying for it by telling him to always wear a robe and to look wet because people won’t question it. Chip is struggling with keeping up appearances at school when a classmate says his mother saw Chip at the other cheap hotel because she works there. Chip denies this and while back at the expensive hotel borrows Jimmy’s tips and also takes video of himself eating and walking around to post to social media for his friends to see so they’ll believe him. He later invites them over to hang out with him and Jimmy tells him it’s not a good idea. They have a little argument and Jimmy leaves. After causing a bit of a disruption, a hotel manager comes over and asks Chip if he can see his room key and tries to kick them out.  Out of nowhere, Jimmy returns, still wearing a robe and is soaking wet and saves the day by yelling at the manager for putting his hands on Chip and for questioning him, and it works.

Later, the gang is back enjoying another expensive meal when Barry arrives, once again saying that they have to stop spending money. Mickey tells him that she knows his secret and that they’re blackmailing him with pictures of him and the escort walking and kissing and she’ll send them to his wife. She also shows him that she has his phone and brings up the picture of him and the woman and children. In a turn of events, he informs her that the people are his sister and her children and that he’s been helping her out since her husband died in Afghanistan. Mickey is extremely embarrassed and excuses herself to the bathroom.

In the end, they all return to the family mansion which was destroyed in a fire in the finale of last season. They try to sit at the table and have some pizza together but their spirits are definitely down and they’re missing their glamorous life.

So it looks like they’re back at the mansion for good but how are they going to make it work with the condition that it’s in? Tune in next week to find out! The Mick is on Tuesdays at 9pm on Fox.
