The Tick

Fans of the cult classic TV show ‘The Tick’ may be crying “Spooooon!” again soon. It’s been reported that Amazon has ordered a live-action reboot pilot from Sony Pictures TV featuring an entire new cast.

Unfortunately, the reboot will not have Patrick Warburton back as the large, friendly, bright blue suited, dim bulb superhero. Warburton is currently starring in the new comedy series from NBC, Crowded. However, we will see his plump account side kick Arthur as well as a bevy of new characters.  According to Deadline Hollywood, the new show will follow The Tick as he fights crime all the while trying to recover his memories.

The Tick was originally created by cartoonist Ben Edlund as a mascot for New England Comics. It was created as a spoof on superheroes. It gained popularity and spun off into an animated series that later gave rise to the live-action show which aired from 2001 to 2002 on the FOX network. Though the show only ran 9 episodes, it remains a fan favorite.
