TJ Clemmings draft profile
TJ Clemmings- Offensive Tackle- Pittsburgh
Size: 6’6 315lbs
- Long frame- former basketball player
- Good foot speed
- Powerful hands- fierce jab
- Explosive first step
- Can get to second level with ease
Analysis: Clemmings is a big, physical lineman who shows flashes of great athleticism. Clemmings can get to blocks most offensive lineman cannot due to his superior quickness and foot speed. When TJ jabs defenders he can knock them off balance. Clemmings first step off the line is the fastest of any lineman in the draft class. He is quickly rising draft boards, and could be the first offensive lineman drafted.
Need to improve:
- Still learning nuances of the position
- Needs to play with wider base
- Plays too fast- over shoots blocks
Analysis: Clemmings made the switch from basketball too football later in his career (originally played defense too) and is still learning how to be an offensive lineman. Most of Clemmings issues are technique driven and can be corrected by coaching. At time Clemmings can play too fast and misread defenders movements, leading to reaching and lunging for blocks. Clemmings a very sure and sound prospect.
Round prediction: 1
