FX and BBC One recently released a trailer for its upcoming miniseries starring Tom Hardy called Taboo.

The eight episode miniseries follows British adventurer James Keziah Delaney who returns to Britain from Africa in 1814 after the death of his father. He comes home to inherit his father’s shipping empire along with all the bad cargo that goes with it.  Which includes taking on the East India Trading Company.

“Oh, the leviathan of the sea, the beast with a million eyes and a million ears. Conquest, rape and plunder. And I do know the evil that you do. Because I was once a part of it.”

Tom Hardy co-wrote the story with his father Chips Hardy who will also be a consulting producer.  The story was created by screenwriter Steven Knight (Pretty Dirty Things, Eastern Promises, Peaky Blinders). The series is being produced by Tom Hardy, Steven Knight, Dean Baker and Ridley Scott and set to air 2017.
