Top 5 Stories from EPL Matchweek 2
With the second weekend wrapped up, let’s look at the top stories from the Premier League.
1. Chelsea claim three points with Alonso brace against the Spurs
Tottenham debuted at their temporary home in Wembley Stadium. It’s a venue they’ve been rather underwhelming at. That trend continued Sunday, as wing back Marcos Alonso netted two goals to give Chelsea a recovery to their shaky start against Burnley last week.
2. Manchester United have another 4-0 victory with Swansea beat down late in the 2nd half
Eric Bailly netted his first goal for Manchester United and the trio of Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, and Anthony Martial scored a goal each in a matter of a few minutes. The 4-0 victory keeps United atop the table with an 8 goal difference.
3. Wayne Rooney moves into 2nd in PL all time scoring list.
Alan Shearer has company with his 260 goal scoring tally. Wayne Rooney helped Everton to a 1-1 draw with Manchester City scoring a goal to put him to 200 goals in the PL. Both teams were put down to 10 men due to two yellow cards issued to City right back Kyle Walker and Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
4. Huddersfield Town 2nd in the table
Of the promoted teams, Huddersfield are off to a good start. When it comes to promoted teams, every win, draw, goal scored, is as precious as a trophy. The goal is to become better and attract the players to be better. Being second in the table is a good start and hopefully they can string results together to try to stay as high up the table as possible.
5. Arsenal drop points against Stoke City
The inconsistency that found Arsenal out of the Champions League and the league title continue to show in this year’s team. Arsenal were slow out of the gate and when they fell behind it showed. Stoke played a great game if dominant football and simply not allowing Arsenal to get comfortable.
