Top 5 Stories from Premier League Matchweek 10
Premier League Matchweek 10 has come and gone with some interesting action to pick from for the list. As always, we will also review Match of the Week.
1. Mahrez puts the Spurs down early
It was a very lackluster performance from Tottenham as Man City came and took care of business straightaway. Riyad Mahrez scored in the 6th minute to give City the victory.
2. Mane scores brace in Liverpool win
Liverpool dominated Cardiff the entire match. Without a doubt, Mo Salah was the Man of the Match with a goal and two assists but Sadio Mane was the man who put the goals in. Cardiff were put on the back foot from the early going when Salah scored in the 10th minute.
3. Chelsea thrash Burnley on the road
A four goal pounding from the Blues put a damper on the crowd at Turf Moor. The game was only 1-0 at halftime after a goal from Alvaro Morata. The second half saw two quick goals from Ross Barkley and Willian in the mid second half. A final goal in stoppage time from Ruben Loftus-Cheek finally ended the goalfest.
4. United best Everton 2-1
It was a simple win for United but once again it’s a slow start great finish for the Red Devils. Consistently this season, we’ve seen Man United underperform in the first half then play near perfection in the second half. Despite United having the lead at halftime, Everton seemed on the verge of scoring. Anthony Martial made it 2-0 in the 49th minute and United with separation looked more comfortable. Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a penalty later in the second half but couldn’t push the Toffees over with the game ending 2-1.
5. Crystal Palace manage draw with Arsenal
Arsenal have been on a roll so it was a surprise they were held up by a team like Crystal Palace. Palace got to a 1-0 lead in the stoppage time of the first half from a penalty through Luka Milivojevic. Granit Xhaka scored for Arsenal in the early stages of the second half to make it 1-1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored five minutes later to make it 2-1. When all seemed loss for Palace, Luka Milivojevic scored another penalty to keep the match at 2-2.
