Premier League

Let’s go and recap the top stories from this weekend’s Premier League action.

1. Manchester City defeat Arsenal 3-1

Despite a fustrated City manager Pep Guardiola, City managed to continue their invincible run. City couldn’t capitalize effective on all of their chances at goal, which could’ve made the game even worse for Arsenal. Kevin DeBryune, Sergio Augero, and Gabriel Jesus gave City their goals while Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal their only goal. City remain atop the table while Arsenal drop to 6th.

2. Alvaro Morata’s powerful header gives Chelsea 1-0 win over Manchester United

It was a stalemate at halftime. What looked like a 0-0 draw for the books turned into a hard-fought 1-0 victory for the Blues with Morata putting his name on the textbook of headers with power. A long ball into the box was strided past United goalkeeper David De Gea like a bullet. Chelsea and Manchester United remain in their original positions of 4th and 2nd, respectively.

3. Everton fight for 3-2 victory over Watford, out of Relegation Zone

None of the scoring happened until the second half when Watford kicked things off to score in the 46th minute. They made it 2-0 in the 64th. What happened next was a sign of Everton refusing to sit down in 18th position coming into the match. They scored in the 67th minute and then 7 minutes later to tie up the game. It was a dogfight the rest of the way until Everton’s Leighton Baines scored a stoppage time stunner. The win moves Everton to 15th position, a much more comfortable spot for the team. Watford drop to 9th.

4. Liverpool pummel West Ham 4-1, Slaven Bilic dismissed following loss

Liverpool put on a great performance on the road, with a brace from Mohamed Salah, and goals from Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Manual Lanzini scored the lone goal for West Ham. Following the match, West Ham boss Slaven Bilic was dismissed from the team effective immediately. West Ham find themselves in the Relegation Zone in 18th position following the loss, while Liverpool move up to 5th.

5. AFC Bournemouth pull out of Relegation Zone with 1-0 win over Newcastle United

The entire match was nearly a 0-0 draw as the final result. Thanks to a goal from Steve Cook during the second half stoppage time, Bournemouth managed to pull themselves from 19th to 17th. Newcastle drop to 14th.

Matchweek 12 begins with the North London Derby on Saturday November 18th.
