Top 5 Stories from Premier League Matchweek 19
Happy Holidays! As we’ve now hit the halfway mark of the season, let’s take a look at the top stories from the Premier League weekend.
1. Five minute onslaught from Arsenal in 3-3 draw with Liverpool
If you went to the bathroom in the 53rd minute, you missed a lot. In five minutes, Arsenal turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead. Coming off the heels of Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah’s goal, Alexis Sanchez scored a minute later. Liverpool would equalize in the 71st, but it was a thrilling match. Arsenal drop to 6th while Liverpool sit in the 4th spot.
2. Harry Maguire goal saves a point for Leicester
The Foxes and Red Devils did battle in The King Power Stadium. United were heavily favored in the match and were carrying a 2-1 lead into stoppage time in the second half. Leicester defender Harry Maguire made a miracle move in the box to score the goal five minutes into stoppage time, and right as the referee was about to whistle for the end of the game. United remain 2nd, while Leicester remain 8th.
3. Augero brace helps City to 4-0 win
AFC Bournemouth came into the Etihad for a shutout performance against them. With goals from Raheem Sterling and Danilo, Augero lead the way to keep City invincible going into the week. City remain 1st, while Bournemouth drop back into the relegation zone in 18th.
4. Harry Kane gets a hat trick in Spurs victory
The Spurs striker put in a Man of the Match performance on the road against Burnley. Getting a penalty early in the first half, he finished off his hat trick performance in the 69th and 79th minute. The Spurs rise to 5th position while Burnley drop to 7th.
5. Everton holds Chelsea to 0-0 draw
It was a very surprising result for the London Blues. Chelsea came in as the favored team, but with Everton’s stout defensive play over the past few matches, Chelsea found it very difficult to score. Chelsea remain 3rd while Everton sit in 9th.
