Let’s dive into the past weekend’s action and see who got match of the week and the number one headline.

1. Match of the Week: Man United vs. Spurs

Manchester United needed a huge rebound from their 3-2 defeat against Brighton last week. It wouldn’t be easy but having the Old Trafford crowd behind them for this game against Tottenham surely felt enough. It was far from enough as the Spurs destroyed United 3-0. It all fell apart in two minutes of play when Lucas Moura and Harry Kane broke the 0-0 deadlock in the second half with 2 goals. Moura scored again late to make it 3-0. United manager Jose Mourinho gave a heated post press conference interview demanding respect from the media. The United crowd saluted the manager throughout the game and Mourinho gave the same to them. The board reportedly still supports Mourinho.

2. Wolves hold Man City to one point

This almost made MOTW simply because of the status the Wolves have as a recently promoted club. The strength of the club doesn’t come close to the strength of title defenders City. This is a good sign from Wolverhampton that they’re here to stay for some time. City will simply look at it as a blip.

3. Arsenal grab first win of the season

Unai Emery managed to bring the Gunners a victory over West Ham in a back to back London Derby fixture. A tie game at halftime it was an own goal by West Ham that broke the deadlock and then a stoppage time goal in the second half that gave Arsenal a secured victory.

4. Six goals scored in Fulham vs. Burnley

It was an unexpected goalfest from these two clubs. Fulham came out the victors scoring four goals to Burnley’s two. The scoring started early with the game at 1-1 after ten minutes. Aleksander Mitrovic scored a brace for Fulham with Andre Shrurrle scoring late to make it four. Burnley only scored their second goal in the first half.

5. Chelsea beat Newcastle 2-1

The game was 0-0 at halftime as Newcastle dug in for most of the game. Eden Hazard scored a penalty in the 76th minute to break the deadlock with Newcastle equalizing in the 83rd minute. What followed was heartbreak for the home crowd with DeAndre Yedlin making a costly error on an own goal that gave Chelsea the victory. On a side note, celebrity FIFA YouTuber and long time Newcastle United fan Jake Buckley, or commonly known as The Master Bucks, made his first trip to St. James Park to see the team for the first time.

Next week is the last week of matches before a two week international break.
