Top 5 Stories from Premier League Matchweek 4
Let’s recap the Top 5 stories from this weekend’s Premier League action.
1. Manchester City destroy Liverpool 5-0
With goals coming from Sergio Augero, Gabriel Jesus, and Leroy Sane, City’s Pep Guardiola embarrassed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool heading into their Champions League fixture. Sadio Mane was sent off for a horrendous kick into the face of City goalkeeper Ederson, who had to be replaced by Claudio Bravo. Manchester City are showing their dominance and are just behind table leader Manchester United on goal difference.
2. Stoke City draws with Manchester United 2-2
Manchester United played behind in this match but they showed great resolve. Despite the win streak ended, they still haven’t acquired a loss yet this season. Mourinho will hang his hat on that statistic. Stoke continue to be that team United can’t solidly get past, which shows the quality of Stoke despite the departures of some key players like Marko Arnautovic.
3. Arsenal bounce back from previous defeat with 3-0 win over AFC Bournemouth
Manager Arsene Wenger finds his team in 11th position post game. The stuttering start to the season was calmed with a win like this but it will take much more going forward. Bournemouth surprisingly remain winless so far in the PL campaign.
4. Spurs with 3-0 win over Everton
The Spurs took care of business. These are the kind of performances they need to have going forward. Everton are falling behind. With the team they put together, many are expecting a better finish than what’s been mustered.
5. Watford surprisingly in 4th position
With 2 wins and 2 draws, Watford are showing great effort this year to finish better. If they can sustain the run for now it sets them up for a better predicted finish. Watford have shown in the past they can run with the top teams but only for a while. There’s always the notorious drop off. Now isn’t the time for that, so they’re a team to keep an eye on.
Matchweek 5 begins Friday.
