Top 5 Stories from Premier League Matchweek 9
Finally off the international break, and we’ve got seamless passing and managers trying to throw punches. And we thought it was too long of a break!
1. Mourinho charges Chelsea coach in Match of the Week
Mourinho’s job is still on the line. Going up against his former club in Chelsea, a loss would not be acceptable. Anthony Martial scored a brace to which United went up 2-1 until Ross Barkley scored an equalizer for Chelsea in second half stoppage time to seal a draw. The Chelsea bench erupted in celebration and one coach apparently rubbed Jose Mourinho the wrong way as the Man United manager tried to charge at him. He was restrained and the two coaches did speak post-game regarding the situation.
2. Man City thrash Burnley 5-0
In what started as a 1-0 game going into halftime turned into a disaster for the visitors from Turf Moor. Burnley still had control of the match being down by one but as soon as City got away from them bringing the score to 3-0, the game was surely over. The two goals in the very late minutes of the match were the nails in the coffin.
3. Cardiff and Fulham put on a shootout
Cardiff isn’t a very stellar team in the Premier League this year. More than likely we will see them go down due to relegation. But certainly matches like this prove why they made it back to this level. Fulham have been par on the season performance level. There’s room for improvement, especially with the squad they have. When it came to this match, Cardiff worked the counter attack brilliantly, and defensively, that’s Fulham’s biggest weakness despite coming into the match the better squad.
4. Arsenal battle it out with Leicester for 3-1 victory
Arsenal’s win put them on a 10 game winning streak in all competitions participated. They’re riding a hot streak, and finally Unai Emery has this team running properly. The showcase was definitely the team play in the final third as goals were strung up with great percision in the build up.
5. Liverpool keep pace in the Top 4
Liverpool are still perfect on the season sitting second with 23 points. Their goal difference is the reason they’re not on top with Man City still holding that spot. City have a +10 difference against Liverpool. The Reds managed to slip up into second with a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
