Aymeric Laporte to Manchester City

In a club record fee for a defender, French centre-back Aymeric Laporte made his move to the Premier League from La Liga club Athletic Bilbao.

Laporte has been on the radar for big money clubs for the past 4 years. Manchester United were the first on the scene to look into buying him. However, the asking price was too high for United to consider the move. So was the same for many other clubs around Europe.

Fast forward to the present and current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. He’s a manager that despite not paying for Sanchez, has no problem spending big money. The deal is worth 57 million through the player’s buyout clause. His wages are considered around 350,000 a week.

It’s unknown if Guardiola will have Laporte in the starting lineup or the bench, but for sure he’s acquired a very capable defender.
