TUF 22 Finale: What we Learned
- Frankie Edgar defeats Chad Mendes via KO in the 1st
Frankie Edgar has knock out power? Chad Mendes is susceptible to being knocked out? Edgar lands a flush left hook that drops Mendes. No question Edgar has earned his title shot. Mendes finds himself at the bottom of the ladder after dropping two consecutive number one contender fights.
- Ryan Hall defeats Artem Lobov via Unanimous Decision
Ryan Hall is a true virtuoso of his craft, so much so that Artem Lobov was terrified of mounting any offense. The fight was for most people rather dull. I don’t know how well Ryan Hall will do in the UFC. He’ll probably follow in the steps of Rousimar Palhares, minus the intentional holding of submissions, where he’ll be feared for his one skill then eventually take a beating once someone figures him out.
- Tony Ferguson defeats Edson Barboza via Submission in the 2nd
Tony Ferguson is the real deal. Give this man a title fight because he’s a finisher and one tough SOB. Some of the kicks Barboza was firing off looked like they could dismember, but Ferguson march forward and landed hard. The fact that he beat Barboza on the feet, and then clinched a D’arse choke quicker than I can get off the couch, shows that he can face anyone in his division. Barboza again finds himself on the outside looking in. He’s still dangerous and will be back within the top echelon of the division in no time.
- Evan Dunham defeats Joe Lauzon via Unanimous Decision
This battle of vets played out as a battle of opposites. Evan Dunham has never looked better. He came in with a crisp stand up game and much improved movement. Louzon on the other hand looked like a punching bag. His feet seemed cemented in place and he had zero head movement. Dunham just popped off four and five hit combinations. It looked like Dunham was having an exhibition in there. It’s rare to see a vet improve so much, and another fall off completely in the same fight.https://www.myfantasysportstalk.com/tuf-22-finale/https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/501045152.jpg?fit=1024%2C682&ssl=1https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/501045152.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1AnalysisCombat SportsMMARecent PostsChad Mendes,Edson Barboza,Frankie Edgar,MMA,Ryan Hall,Tony Ferguson,TUF 22,TUF 22 Finale,UFCFrankie Edgar defeats Chad Mendes via KO in the 1st Frankie Edgar has knock out power?
