Strengths:

  • Size
  • Powerful arms
  • Solid mobility for size
  • Goes through progressions
  • Improv ability
  • Deep ball talent will beat safeties

Weaknesses:

  • Footwork
  • Decision-making takes too long
  • Completion percentage is not good
  • Too willing to throw it up for grabs under heavy pressure
  • Needs touch on slants and short passes
  • Wanted more production out of him

Analysis: It was widely reported that Jackson could take advantage of college football’s grad transfer rules and play at a big-time program for one more season before taking his talents to the NFL–instead he said he did not want to play for another program other than UB and declared for the draft. He is an intriguing prospect who possesses a lot of the tools scouts drool over–size, powerful arm and solid mobility. That being said, he will need to work on his craft over the next couple of seasons before he is fully ready to lead an NFL team. He struggles with footwork and decision-making but his arm is as live as they come. The good news for Jackson–the weak parts of his game are easily corrected with coaching and willingness to put the work in. The team that drafts him will need to understand this and commit to teaching him the fundamentals before throwing him out to the wolves. He does have franchise potential.

Size: 6’7 249lbs

Draft Rank: No.5 QB

NFL Comparison: Josh Freeman

Draft Projection: Round 3-4
