U.S. Women without top star Alex Morgan?
The U.S. Women’s National Team is set to start play June 8th against Australia, but they may be down a top star. After injuring her knee, it is unknown at this point how hurt Alex Morgan is, or how much she will play in the group stage of the 2015 Women’s World Cup from Canada.
The U.S. Women’s National team is getting ready for redemption, and getting ready without star forward Alex Morgan. Alex is struggling to come back from a knee contusion. This is a huge disappointment to U.S. Women’s National Team’s fans everywhere, and obviously…male U.S. Women’s National Team’s fans. In case you’re just a casual soccer fan, let me quickly introduce you to Alex Morgan…
Alex Morgan is a top draw for the U.S. Women’s National Team, so without her, the women will have to hope they can survive early group play without many minutes from Morgan. But there is reason for optimism as U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Jill Ellis says:
“In terms of Alex, we’re building her. Realistically, she’s been off for a while. So in terms of minutes, that’s something I think we’re going to have to build through the early games to be ready. We don’t want to blow her up too early in terms of physically being ready.”
Morgan is a key contributor to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s success over the last four years. Playing any games without her is a big blow to the fan base. However, the U.S. Women’s squad is the #2 ranked national squad in the world. So with, or without Morgan, the U.S. Women’s National team will prepare their onslaught of all-world players…Hope Solo, Abby Wambach, Megan Rapinoe, Christie Rampone, Carli Lloyd, Shannon Boxx, Tobin Heath and Sydney Leroux.
But then again, I hope Alex plays…
