UFC 193 Preview and Predictions
This is going to be an easy one, as we will be witnessing two murders on Saturday night when Rousey tears Holly Holm’s arm off and Joanna Jedrzejczyk beats Valerie Letourneau to a bloody pulp. Thankfully the other fights on the main card look like they will be much more competitive and hopefully deliver some back and forth excitement. Here’s my predictions for Saturday night.
Women’s Bantamweight Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Holly Holm
Holly Holm is by far the most accomplished striker that Rousey has faced but it’s not going to be enough. The only way Holm’s stands a chance is if Rousey decides to stand and trade with her. Rousey has to fight the urge to try to prove some sort of point and do what she does best. Take the fight to the mat, isolate an arm, and lock in the arm bar. As they like to say, there’s always a puncher’s chance. Look for Rousey to finish the fight in the first via arm bar.
Women’s Straw weight Championship: Joanna Jędrzejczyk (c) vs. Valérie Létourneau
Who is Valérie Létourneau, you may be asking? Just another sacrifice for Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Joanna’s kickboxing prowess is just on another level. She makes her opponents look unrecognizable after she blasts them with an array of strikes. Letourneau doesn’t stand a chance, Joanna ends this in the second.
Heavyweight: Mark Hunt vs. Antônio Silva
This clash of heavyweights is going to end with a knockout. Mark Hunt and Antonio Silva hit way too hard for this fight to last. Mark Hunt boasts a far better chin than Silva which is going to be the difference maker. Hunt ends this fight in the first after a flurry of haymakers back and forth.
Middleweight: Robert Whittaker vs. Uriah Hall
This fight could prove to be the most competitive and because of that expect fireworks. These two guys like to keep the fight standing and both throw unorthodox strikes. Both Whittaker and Hall have major KO power but Hall mixes up his attack with kicks and knees which can be the difference here. This fight can end at any moment so don’t blink. I think I will give Hall the edge in this fight, especially coming off of the biggest victory of his career. I see him landing a big head kick in the second round that leads to a TKO victory.
Heavyweight: Stefan Struve vs. Jared Rosholt
This fight depends entirely on Stefan Struve. You never know which version of him is going to show up. He is the tallest fighter, but fights like an average sized guy. He doesn’t use his reach effectively. Jared Rosholt looks too inexperienced and slow to land anything substantial against Struve. I see Struve winning via unanimous decision.
