UFC on Fox 24

The UFC never fails to excite, especially when arguably the best pound for pound fighter in Demetrius Johnson enters the octagon to put on a show. The main card will be airing live from Kansas City, Missouri for the first time ever, but is featuring one of the strongest cards to-date with these four fights. All PPV-worthy fights from the Middleweights to the Strawweights featuring Michelle Waterson. Here’s a break down of the fights and predictions of who will walk out victorious.

Jeremy Stephens vs Renato Moicano (Featherweight bout)

The card kicks off with a hopeful fast paced fight that looks to end with a ko/tko. Moicano is undoubtedly talented from his striking to his ground game, but he’s dealing with a well seasoned veteran in Stephens. No matter what Moicano throws at Stephens, I expect Stephens to have a counter for. This fight could be over as early as the second round if Stephens does his usual thing.

prediction Stephens by tko, RD 2

Ronaldo Souza vs Robert Whittaker (Middleweight bout)

Robert Whittaker has had his days of shining in the octagon, but this Saturday will not be one of those days. I will say though, there’s a slight chance Whittaker can pull a shocker with his quick hands if the fight stays standing up, but Souza is a world-class athlete, and his grappling and striking is one of the most dangerous set of skills in the Middleweight division. Souza takes this fight to the ground early in my opinion to avoid trading shots with Whittaker.

Prediction Souza by submission, RD 2

Co- Main Event

Rose Namajunas vs Michelle Waterson (Strawweight bout)

This is the toughest fight on the card for me to pick,  but I am confident in saying that this will also be the best fight of the main card. Picking a winner is a true toss-up, I expect an exciting fight from both women. Here’s how I think its breaks down, with flaws in both of these ladies. Namajunas has shown in the past that she struggles against highly-skilled strikers, and Waterson has also shown that she struggles against physically stronger grapplers. Not to mention in the Atomweight division Waterson ran through her opponents, she’s fighting at Strawweight now, and those few pounds make a difference with bigger and stronger opponents. I could see Namajunas using her grappling to wear down Waterson throughout the fight which wouldn’t surprise me, but my gut feeling tells me that Waterson will utilize her world-class striking and take the fight to the mat to put this one away late.

prediction Waterson by submission, RD 5

UFC Flyweight Championship: Demetrius Johnson vs Wilson Reis (Flyweight bout)

Reis is underrated in the eyes of many, but after Saturday he’s going to be just another guy who just didn’t have what it takes to defeat the best pound for pound fighter in the world. “Might Mouse” is just on another level, yes he’s not known for his tko’s or ko’s, but his striking, defense and grappling is unlike any other in numerous divisions. Johnson can put this away early if he wanted to, but he will stay cool, keep his calm and will work Reis till the final bell if the fight goes that way.

prediction Johnson by submission, RD 4
