After a terrible start to the 2016 NFL season for Blair Walsh, he looked to have figured things out after hitting 9 straight kicks, but then struggled once again en route to the Minnesota Vikings’ decision to release Walsh and sign K Kai Forbath.

Walsh’s struggles dates back to the 2015-16 playoffs where the Minnesota Vikings faced off against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card game. Down 10-9 with 22 seconds to go in the 4th quarter, Walsh missed a game-winning 27-yard field goal attempt resulting to the end of the Vikings season, and the true start of Walsh’s downfall.

As the season progressed, every kick attempt by the former 2012 pro bowler was a nail-biter, with many fans hoping the team goes for the 2-pt conversion rather than witness another missed extra point.

But after making just 2 of his 3 extra kicks, the miss marked as Walsh’s 4th botched extra point kick of the season in Week 10’s, 26-20 loss to the Washington Redskins. And resulted to the Vikings finally pulling the plug and releasing Walsh, as through 9 games in the 2016 season, Walsh has made just 12 of his 16 field goals, and missed an NFL-high 8 total kicks.
