Von Miller hardened his stance on not playing in 2016 under franchise tag
The 2016 Super Bowl MVP Von Miller isn’t budging at all when it comes to his contract negotiations with the Denver Broncos. Well, mainly between him and John Elway. In a recent visit to the White House, it was rumored that it was basically a recruiting trip for the team to get Miller out there. While Miller and Elway briefly talked over the contract he would go on to later post a photo he had taken with teammates and Elway— with Elway cropped out.
Earlier today he would take to social media to announce on Instagram that there’s “no chance” he plays in 2016 under the franchise tag. The Broncos offered Miller a whopping six-year deal worth $114.5 million with $39.8 million being guaranteed money, making Miller the NFL’s highest-paid defensive star, but he rejected. One of the sticking points repeatedly mentioned is that the argument is over guaranteed money.
Recently, Miller would go on to watch the Eagles offer a six-year contract to Fletcher Cox along with $63 million in guaranteed money. Miller said he won’t settle for anything less, and if possible, would like to top that offer. It does help that his teammate Brandon Marshall on the other hand didn’t try to wrestle with Elway and the Broncos as he gladly signed his 4-year extension worth up to 32 million. Add in that the Broncos aren’t spending big money on a quarterback, so the money is out there.
Yesterday Miller made a recorded appearance on a Netflix show “Chelsea” saying that ‘there wasn’t a chance he’d sit out the 2016 season”, but did go on to say that as much as he wants to be a Bronco for life, he wants the Broncos to feel the same way about him.
With the two sides still having a month until the deadline of July 15th to decide on a deal, it’ll be hard not seeing Miller getting the guaranteed money that he wants. Most would argue that he deserves it after his dominating, memorable performance from Super Bowl 50. If it weren’t for him we’d all be watching Cam Newton dabbing with the Lombardi Trophy.https://www.myfantasysportstalk.com/von-miller-hardened-his-stance-on-not-playing-in-2016-under-franchise-tag/https://i1.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/a-66.jpg?fit=1024%2C512&ssl=1https://i1.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/a-66.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1AFC WestCarolina PanthersDenver BroncosFootballNFLPhiladelphia EaglesRecent PostsDenver Broncos,John Elway,Von MillerThe 2016 Super Bowl MVP Von Miller isn't budging at all when it comes to his contract negotiations with the Denver Broncos.
