WB announces female led ‘Gotham City Sirens’
Earlier today Warner Bros. and DC announced that the female led ‘Gotham City Sirens’ is in development and that David Ayer (Suicide Squad) would be teaming up once again with Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) to direct. There are no further details at this time.
Fans have already begun talking about David Ayer returning and who might be cast as Poison Ivy and Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. Could this film also introduce us to Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl/Oracle? Might we see other female villains cast or could this film introduce us to some of Batman’s other foes like Riddler or Two-Face in a more cameo role. Robbie did a great job as Harley Quinn so whomever else they cast will need to bring the same spirit she did.
I am glad to see that WB has faith in its ladies as this will be the second female led film after next years Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot. Scoreboard Marvel!
The news of Ayer returning as director has some scratching their head as they felt he would not be brought back after behind the scenes rumblings during Suicide Squad. Also even though Squad was a success financially, the poorly edited film has some fans wishing another director had been tabbed to direct Sirens. I for one think Ayer is a good director when given free rein and I have hopes for his return. The film has no release date or any other news at this time so anything could happen between now and then.
One thing that is for certain is that it seems WB/DC are full steam ahead with the DCEU. Who would you like to see cast? Thoughts on Ayer returning? Please comment below and let us know.
As always please stay tuned to MFST for all your DC and Marvel news.
