Week 3 waiver wire pickups
In week 2 there were many possible waiver wire pickups who produced this past week. Two wide receivers who stood out among the possible pickups last week were Terrance Williams and Donte Moncrief. Both scored touchdowns and were very involved in their team’s respective offenses. This week there are more players who should be added to fantasy teams and I will discuss a couple of those players at running back, wide receiver, and tight end.
The former Florida Gator had himself a great game against the Rams in week 2. Jones had 19 carries for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns. He actually had more carries than starter Alfred Morris which might worry people who have Alfred Morris on their teams, but at least for now, Morris should still get a lot of carries. Morris had a great week 1 and should still be relevant, but Jones’ production cannot be ignored. He has played terrific and should be picked up as his value to the team continues to be on display.
McCluster had one of the his best games of his career this past weekend with 10 carries for 98 yards. He also added 4 catches for 26 yards. McCluster produced more than starter Bishop Sankey who only had 12 carries for 42 yards on the day. Although McCluster may not be the starter in Tennessee, there is no denying his production. He may not be a player that you start right away, but the Titans running back situation is one to monitor over the next few weeks as McCluster is making a case to get more playing time going forward.
Crabtree is entering his seventh season in the league and his first in Oakland. After a decent showing in week 1, Crabtree had a great game against Baltimore this past Sunday. He had 9 catches, on 16 targets, for 111 yards and a touchdown. Crabtree’s targets suggest that he has established himself as a very important part of the Raider offense and with fellow wideout, Amari Cooper, on the other side Oakland’s passing attack should continue to be productive.
Travis Benjamin has racked up impressive stats through the first two weeks. Although he only has six receptions through two games, three of them have gone for touchdowns. He also has over 200 yards receiving combined in those two games. Benjamin is also the punt returner for Cleveland which was another area where Benjamin showed his value as he returned a punt for a touchdown in week 2. Benjamin may not have a ton of targets through two weeks, seven, but he has proved that he has big play ability and that is why he should be added to fantasy teams this week.
Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed had another good outing this past Sunday. He may not have scored a touchdown, but he was still involved in the passing game with 6 catches for 82 yards. Coming off of a 7 catch, 63 yard performance in week 1 which included a touchdown, this was a great sign for Reed’s continued involvement in the offense for Washington. Reed has 13 targets through two games and with DeSean Jackson out a few more weeks, there is no reason he can’t continue to be an important player in the passing game.
After a disappointing rookie year in 2014, Ebron has had two very productive games to start this season. Enron has scored a touchdown in each of the first two games with 9 catches on 15 targets. Ebron was targeted 10 times this past weekend which shows his value to the offense. If he can continue the success that he has had so far there is no reason to think he can’t continue to get a lot of opportunities moving forward.
