Week 4 NFL Picks
Our NFL Picks will be a weekly column, where our writers choose the winner of four games including one which will be an upset pick.
The Picks will be tracked and we will crown a champion at the end of the season. Writer’s Dan Schalk and James Kiblin will pick the games and battle it out this season.
Through 3 weeks of the NFL season Dan stands at 10-2 and Jim comes in at 5-7. Jim would have had an opposite record if it weren’t for two close calls last week.
Ravens over Panthers 24-21
Over the summer I had predicted the Panthers would not be a successful team in 2014. The first two weeks of the season Carolina proved me wrong, but last weeks loss to Pittsburgh gave me the motivation I needed to pick against them this week. Carolina’s defense showed some flaws in week three, that I expect Baltimore to take advantage of in a close battle down to the end.
Dolphins over Raiders 28-17
Even with the blunder of the Dolphins head coach and quarterback not naming and naming the starting quarterback, I still think the Dolphins have more talent than the Raiders and should come away victorious. Oakland may play hard, but they are just a bad football team.
49ers over Eagles 34-21
The Eagles can’t get down to the 49ers like they have every other opponent they have faced this year. I like Jim Harbaugh to figure out how to shut down Chip Kelley and the hurry up offense, en route to a high scoring double digit win.
Upset Pick of the Week:
Cowboys over Saints 45-41
This is a simple “gut” pick. I don’t think either defense will stop the others offense. However, Tony Romo showed some poise last week, and if the Cowboys run the ball successfully they will control the ever important time of possession, and win the game.
Redskins over Giants 30-20
Cousins continues to impress and run the Washington offense up and down the field. The struggles of the G-Men continue similar to the first two weeks of the season, as they fall to 1-3.
Colts over Titans 27-17
I see this game being close in the first half, then the Colts and the number one fantasy player Andrew Luck pull away after halftime.
Lions over Jets 24-10
Matthew Stafford and company have too much fire power to throw at the Jets in this week four matchup. It should be a tough physical game to try and establish the run. I expect to see the ball in the air a lot and that favors the Lions.
Upset Pick of the Week:
Chiefs over Patriots 24-21
The New England Patriots look old and slow. I feel this could be the game to get the Chiefs rolling in the right direction, and forgetting about their poor start. Kansas City will rely heavily on Jamal Charles and Knile Davis on their way to the victory in a close battle.
