Week 5 waiver wire pickups
Week 5 is coming up quickly. Here are some players who should be added to fantasy teams this week.
The Titans running back situation has been a very puzzling one to read all year. In week 3, Antonio Andrews led all running backs in carries with 12 for 49 yards and a touchdown. Andrews did not play the first two games, but came in and had a productive day against the Colts. Bishop Sankey, who leads the team in carries through three games only had 5 carries for 10 yards in that game. Although Andrews only played one game, he had a productive day and in my opinion should be added this week as we continue to monitor the Titans running game.
With the injury to wideout Steve Smith Sr., Kamar Aiken went of to have a very good game last Thursday night with 5 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. Smith Sr.’s injury might keep him out of this weekends game so that gives Aiken a chance to get more of an opportunity to produce. On the year, Aiken has 11 catches on 18 targets for 165 yards and a touchdown. He has had two games of 5 catches for over 70 yards, but has also had two games with a combined total of one catch for -1 yards. I think he will have more games like last week until Smith returns and that is why I believe he should be added this week.
Tight end, Gary Barnidge, has had back to back great games for the Cleveland Browns and if you are having trouble at TE or your starter is on a bye week, he could be a nice pickup this week. The past two weeks, Barnidge has had 12 catches for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. Both games he has had 6 catches and a touchdown which shows that he has been a consistent contributor in the Browns passing attack. In weeks 1 and 2, Barnidge had a total of 4 catches for 55 yards, but it appears that he has found a nice role in Cleveland’s offense.
Allen Hurns has been a great contributor to the Jaguars offense all year. Through four games he has 22 catches for 314 yards and two touchdowns. In each game he has topped the 60 yard mark, including his best game of the year this past Sunday with 11 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. Hurns is off to a great start to the 2015 season and there is no reason to think that he can’t continue to be an important player in Jacksonville’s offense moving forward.
