Our NFL Picks will be a weekly column, where our writers choose the winner of four games including one which will be an upset pick.

The Picks will be tracked and we will crown a champion at the end of the season.  Writer’s Dan Schalk and James Kiblin will pick the games and battle it out this season.

Week 5 saw both our writer’s end 2-2, for the seasons Dan is 16-4 and Jim is 10-10.

Dan’s Picks

Patriots over Bills 42-17

New England owns the Buffalo Bills.  Tom Brady has accumulated a 22-2 record against Buffalo’s finest since taking over as starting quarterback for the Patriots.  If the Pats can come out as they did last week against the Bengals, I do not expect this game to be close, improving Brady’s unprecedented record against one team.

Lions over Vikings 31-13

Even with the possibility of Megatron not being available to play in this game, I still see the Lions pulling out the victory, coming off the ugly loss to Buffalo.  I am a fan of Teddy Bridgewater, but the Vikings lack the talent to win consistently in the NFL.  Look for the Lions to shut down Minnesota’s offense en route to the win.

Seahawks over Cowboys 31-24

The Seahawks are the class of the NFL, and they will show that again on Sunday when they physically beat the 4-1 Cowboys.  The key to this game will be the Cowboys offensive line versus the Seattle defensive line.  The inexperience for the Cowboys unit will show through, as they lose a close game to the World Champs.

Upset Pick of the Week:
Giants over Eagles 28-17

The Eagles have consistently come back from holes they have put themselves in, but not this game.  I expect rookie Andre Williams to control the ball for the Giants, as they dominate time of possession on their way to crucial division victory.

Jim’s Picks

Colts over Texans 27-20

Andrew Luck has won three straight games over the Texans and nine straight division games overall.  It’s like Peyton never left.  I do not think the streak ends this week, not the way Luck has been playing.  Tight game, but Colts pull it out.

Falcons over Bears 34-27

Every year we see Cutler start well, putting up big numbers, and then out of nowhere change into “Mistake Cutler”, which is what we have been seeing out of him lately.  Atlanta can’t win away from home, but I believe they pull this one out, not because they play better than the Bears, but because Atlanta does not have Cutler at QB, but the reliable Matt Ryan.  Atlanta wins by one possession.

Bengals over Panthers 24-13

I believe Cincinnati pulls this game out.  Cam Newton is clearly not 100% healthy yet, combine that with Carolina’s 0-2 record against the AFC North this season. In those two games they have been outscored 75-29.  Cincinnati has not lost at home since December 2012.  Bengals win handily.
Upset Pick of the Week:
Redskins over Cardinals 20-17
Encouraging signs were shown during the Redskins 27-17 loss to the Seahawks on Monday night.  Kirk Cousins showed the ability to make plays against the Legion of Boom, and I think that will continue against a tough Cardinals secondary, but they are not Seattle.  With the Cardinals quarterback question marks, Washington wins on a late field goal.
