Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

Were headed into week 8 with six teams on a bye. A lot of teams will be affected by this and what better way than to turn to your best friend when your roster is in need? That’s the waiver of course. Now I will note some of these guys may help lead your team for weeks to come, others may just be fill-ins with players such as Todd Gurley and Le’Veon Bell on bye. Here is the list in no particular order.

Ty Montgomery (WR/RB) Green Bay

Yeah this was a tricky one because with Eddie Lacy due to miss multiple weeks with ankle surgery Montgomery filled the RB position for the Packers although he currently takes care of WR duties. In most leagues they already made his transition for you to play Montgomery as a RB and has proven that he has a prominent role in the Packers offense going forward.

Jay Ajayi (RB) Miami

Well if you didn’t grab him after week 6 good luck trying to grab him after week 7 or trying to acquire him on your roster. Ajayi rushed for 200 plus yards in back to back games, and with Arian Foster announcing his retirement yesterday that shocked us all, it’s clearly Ajayi’s job going forward.

Jacquizz Rodgers (RB) Tampa Bay

Doug Martin continues to be haunted by his hamstring injury, and Jacquizz will likely carry the load at RB for Tampa Bay going forward. He’s been super efficient as well going for over 100 yards twice in the two games he’s filled in for Martin.

Mike Gillislee (RB) Buffalo

No word yet if Lesean McCoy will sit out week 8 with a bye in week 9 for the Bills, but with McCoy leaving in Sunday’s contest with the Dolphins due to a hamstring issue Gillislee is a must add in all formats.

Matt Asiata (RB) Minnesota

If you’re desperate and the opportunities for RB is as dry as a desert Asiata could be a nice fill in. McKinnon left Sundays game against the Eagles with an ankle injury. If McKinnon sits out week 8 Asiata would fill the RB position for the Vikings.

Chris Thompson (RB) Washington

This is an interesting add. Matt Jones has had some fumbling issues and fumbled twice on Sunday. He was taken out of the game and was put back in, but didn’t look good. Matt Jones is walking on egg shells and Thompson is lurking from behind to take over as the lead for running back duties.

Davante Adams (WR) Green Bay

Adams had a huge week 7 hauling in 13 catches for 132 yards and two TD’s. Clearly this won’t continue as Jordy will remain the #1 option at WR in Green Bay, but with the Packers changing things up to remain relevant Adams is a must add. He has had Rodgers attention in the past few weeks.

Donte Moncrief (WR) Indianapolis

When healthy and on the field Moncrief is very productive and gets his fair share of targets from Andrew Luck. He’s expected to return soon after suffering a week 2 injury. Add him while you can.

If you’re a Lamar Miller owner hopefully you have him handcuffed with Blue. Lamar suffered a shoulder injury on Monday night which led to Blue seeing some work for the Texans. He’s a must add if he’s still floating around on the waiver wire.

Jack Doyle (TE) Indianapolis

With Dwayne Allen sidelined there’s no question that Jack Doyle has no problem handling the TE duties, and week 7 should have fantasy owners scrambling to add him if you need a TE. He has 13 of 14 catches for 131 yards and two TD’s.

Jamison Crowder (WR) Washington

Crowder has been up and down all season, but has been more productive in PPR leagues rather than standard. With Desean Jackson disappearing in games leading to other players to step up Crowder is worth an add especially if your team is suffering from all the byes in week 8.
