Week 9 Fantasy TE Studs
With the NFL’s week 10 approaching, MFST will take a look at 3 fantasy TE studs who had monster games in week 9.
Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
Week 9 stats: 8 Receptions, 134 Yards, 1 TD
The veteran Tight end Jason Witten had his best game of the season, as he was Dak Prescott’s main target against the winless Browns. Witten reeled in a game-high 8 catches, for 134 yards and an early touchdown in the first quarter, marking his second consecutive game with a score. Witten recorded his first 100+ yard game of the season, after failing to haul-in more than 50-yards since the Cowboy’s Week 2 matchup against the Redskins, where he had 51 receiving yards on 3 catches.
Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Week 9 Stats: 5 Receptions, 75 Yards, 1 Touchdown
With rookie Tight end Hunter Henry ruled out for week 9’s matchup with a knee injury, Antonio Gates took full advantage and recorded his best game of the season. Gates reeled in 5 of his 9 targets, for a season-high 75 yards, along with his 4th touchdown pass from Philip Rivers. Week 9’s score marks Gates’ second consecutive game with a touchdown, as he looks to remain as River’s favorite target in the red zone.
Vance McDonald, San Francisco 49ers
Week 9 Stats: 3 Receptions, 84 Yards, 1 Touchdown
In San Francisco’s week 9 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Tight end Vance McDonald had his best game of the season. McDonald recorded a season-high 84 yards, on 3 catches and connected with Colin Kaepernick on a 65-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. McDonald has made the most of his limited opportunities, averaging 20.5 yards per catch, on just 11 receptions on the year.
