Remember when second rounder, Draymond Green, was seeking a max-deal contract and everyone thought it was absurd?

Even though Green played as important cog in the Warriors championship run and has been steadily improving year after year since being drafted 35th overall out of Michigan State in 2012. Averaging 11.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks while shooting 52.3 percent from the field and am impressive 33.7 percent from beyond the arc from the 6’7 forward. A max contract looked far from what Green was expected to get, yet the Warriors knew how valuable Green was and gave in agreeing to a 5 year/$82 million contract. A contract that will have Green making more money than star Stephen Curry.

But as the season has gone on, Draymond Green has emerged as arguably the second best player on the Warriors, Most Improved Player and even MVP talks after his recent performances. In the Warriors matchup against the Rockets on Dec. 31, Green posted his first triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 16 assists in the win. Green would then post his second consecutive triple-double against the Nuggets in their first game of the New Year. Green exploded for 29 points, 17 rebounds and 15 assists. Then in the Warriors Monday night 111-101 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, Green notched his 3rd straight triple-double recording 13 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. On the season Green is averaging 15.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 7.4 assists, along with 1.39 blocks and 1.39 steals per game.

Green now looks to be worth every penny of the money the Warriors dished out to bring back the former Sparty. He has notched a league leading 7 triple-doubles on the season and has 8 career triple-doubles. Green also becomes just the 15th player in NBA history to record 3 consecutive triple-doubles and just the 5th player over the past 20 seasons joining Jason Kidd, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Grant Hill. Although it might have been crazy just last offseason as many fans questioned the Warriors move to dish out max-type money for Green. But the Warriors faith in Green has paid off tremendously and Green has emerged as a star in the league and who plays with a passion like no other.

Take Notice NBA fans, as we’re all spectators of Draymond Green’s break out party.
