The American Civil War, widely known in the United States as simply the Civil War as well as other names, was a civil war fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the survival of the Union or independence for the Confederacy.

Ah, wrong Civil War.

Captain America: Civil War. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Premiering May 6th 2016, inspired from the 2006 comic book hit of the same name, follows a dispute between Captain America and Iron man, but before you see the movie, What should you know?

Civil War

[SPOILERS FOR THE MCU UP UNTIL CIVIL WAR]

We see in the Captain America movies, Steve dealing with the choices of the government, while he struggles with the morality of his agencies choices. He lost his friend Bucky only to discover he was kidnapped and molded into the ruthless assassin known as the Winter Soldier.

Tony was a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, not to mention an arms dealer for the US military. On a gun run, his convoy gets attacked and he is held hostage. He soon discovers that his company is dealing under the table. In all three Iron Man movies we see Stark dealing with his flaws, and how his past mistakes create great consequences for the world.

Their sides make sense, Tony feeling guilty about his actions in AOU and Ironman 1-3, and Steve being on the side of freedom after seeing governments fall to evil agencies.

In the original comic’s there is a traitor on the teams, whom we could assume might me Black Widow. She had ties with Cap from winter soldier and that paired with her previous red-room KGB experience, might make her side with Steve.

In the comics, [SORT OF SPOILER FOR THE COMICS] Spiderman eventually switches sides, realizing that Iron Man won’t stop to instill ‘Democracy’.

Still very pumped for this movie.
