What We Know So Far About WB’s Joker Origin Movie
It was reported yesterday that Warner Brothers is currently developing an untitled Joker origin movie. So far we know that Todd Phillips (The Hangover, War Dogs) is on board to direct the film. Phillips will co-write the script with Scott Silver (8 Mile). The Joker film will be the first under a new banner for DC films which is said to have a separate continuity from the current DCEU. This means that new actors may be starring as some of our favorite heroes. The name of the new banner has yet to be announced.
While Jared Leto played the Joker in Suicide Squad and is said to return in Suicide Squad 2 and a Harley Quinn spinoff film, it’s expected that a new actor will play the role in the origin tale of the clown prince of crime. There’s no word yet on who that actor will be.
Along with Phillips and Silver, Deadline Hollywood reported that Martin Scorsese will produce the film with Phillips. That news has not been confirmed yet. There’s also no word yet on when the Joker origin movie is set to be released or when we’ll get more details on DC’s new banner.
Some fans say that the Joker’s mysterious origins are an important part of what makes the character. Do you think a Joker origin movie is a good idea? Sound off in the comments below.
