Who’s Winning over LA? Week 3
Raiders. Raiders! RAIDERS! After a morning featuring all three LA hopefuls, only the Oakland Raiders come out with a win. Let me breakdown what I saw out of the LA hopefuls and how their stock with the Los Angeles fan-base was affected.
Oakland Raiders (2-1)
Amari Cooper is a stud. The Raiders offense already looks like a threat, but with time they are going to be monsters, particularly Cooper who showcased all of his talents. After making a catch the rookie turns on the afterburners. Carr, Murray, and Cooper are going to be a triple threat for years to come. On the defensive end, Mack looked impressive with 2 sacks and the ever present Charles Woodson comes up big with a game clinching pick.
Like most young teams the Raiders need to be able to finish. There 4th quarter production takes a dive which can be attributed to the young guns still getting accustomed to the speed and power of the professional stage. The defense needs to step up. While they played better than last week, there are still justified concerns that other teams will steamroll them.
LA Interest: Way Up. In fact all Raiders fans from all over are celebrating such a promising looking team.
St. Louis Rams (1-2)
The turf was hotter than the Rams, but just as symbolic. The Rams are nothing like the team that beat the Seahawks in week 1. The Rams dropped so many passes you would think the ball was made of butter. No one won this game, Pittsburgh lost their starting quarterback and the fans watched this poor excuse for a football game.
LA Interest: Down. Rams fans may be used this type of game, where after the first score you know that the game is over, but they are not going to win over any new fans, specifically the demanding LA crowd.
San Diego Chargers (1-2)
“Chargers going to be using Craigslist on Monday to find offensive linemen.” -/u/DisneyLines (Redditor). The Chargers O-line just got decimated. The Vikings defense looked like it would take a railgun to break through. Philip Rivers took some nasty hits and you can tell it affected his game. Frustrating game to watch if you’re a Chargers fan.
LA Interest: Takes another hit. The Chargers have more concerns now than trying to win over some fans, they’re going to struggle finding a win.
