Why Bringing Back Dean Ambrose on RAW Was a Mistake
I’ll start off by saying that I fell asleep before Dean Ambrose’s RAW return. After going back and watching the video on YouTube, I’ve decided that Dean Ambrose’s return on RAW was a mistake! Although he got a great pop from the crowd, and it made sense storyline-wise, here’s my reasoning why:
SummerSlam has become known for being filled with surprises. Dean Ambrose making an epic return at the biggest PPV of the summer would’ve felt more special. I would’ve booked it so that he made a return and helped Seth Rollins overcome Drew McIntyre’s interference and defeat Dolph Ziggler for the title. Then, while celebrating with Rollins, he would ultimately turn heel in the same night and set up a long feud with Seth Rollins into the fall over the Intercontinental Championship. So BOOM! You get a huge crowd pop for a returning Dean Ambrose AND a huge turn all in the same night AND a fresh story for the slower fall months. Now that would be…Too SWEET!
Instead, we’re getting the generic singles match with two people on the outside supporting their teammates. I have no doubt that Rollins and Ziggler will tear the house down in Brooklyn, but I just would’ve booked it differently when it comes to Ambrose. But who knows, I might be overreacting. The plan could still be that Ambrose is still turning heel this Sunday and either costing Rollins the title or turning on him post match. That’s the only way that WWE can make this right.
Don’t mess this one up creative, I’m counting on you to prove me wrong!
