Why You Should Be Watching Cazzie David’s Web Series ‘Eighty-Sixed’
Cazzie David, the daughter of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David has started her own web series with her friend Elisa Kalani called Eighty-Sixed on YouTube. It premiered in April and is about a girl named Remi (David) who is going through a breakup and is struggling to get through it in the millennial world of social media. It becomes a game of who is doing better and essentially “winning the game.” With the help of her friends Owen (Owen Thiele) and Lily (Kristi Lauren) Remi tries to get over her breakup. She tries to stay off of social media so her ex-boyfriend will wonder what she’s up to. In one episode they go to a party and the group take a picture together and Remi tries to get someone else to post it to social media and tag her so it doesn’t seem forced and that she’s trying to make it look like she’s trying to be seen with her friends. She wants it to seem natural and that she’s there because she wants to be. Each episode is hilarious and Lily and Owen are amazing.
Cazzie David has such a natural raw talent and plays Remi so well. She’s so relatable. This series is like nothing else that is out there right now in my opinion. In a world where everything is about getting likes on social media, getting over a breakup is worse now than ever before because we’re constantly seeing what the other person is up to and stalking their social media to see who the other person is dating now and comparing ourselves to them. We’re always having to see how well people are doing and forcing ourselves to be how others are. It’s kind of sad when you really think about it. It really does kind of become a game to one up the other person and show who is doing better post-breakup. Everything can seem so fake. If you want to see something different from everything else on tv right now then check it out. There are currently 6 episodes available to watch on the YouTube channel “Eighty Sixed.”
