Another well-known Marvel alum has decided to jump ship and join DC’s Justice League film. We reported a few weeks ago that Oscar Winner J.K. Simmons had signed on to play Commissioner James Gordon in the movie. Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin) and Simmons (J. Jonah Jameson) are both former Spider-Man actors during the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire run. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter today and rumors are already running rampant through social media as to whom Dafoe will be playing.

The article does not mention who he will be playing, only that he has signed on for both parts of Justice League as a “good guy”. The article also never alludes to the “good guy” being any sort of hero or meta-human but with him signing on for both movies I would conclude that his role will be of some importance.  In the end this could all be a swerve by Warner Bros. to keep his true role hidden, perhaps say Darkseid.  This is another home-run casting call for the movie which began production on April 11th, 2016. I am sure we will get more casting news as the filming unfolds.

So how do you feel about Willem Dafoe being cast? Do you want to see him as a “good guy” or is he better suited to play a villain?

As always please check back to MFST for all you Marvel/DC news!
