Woody Harrelson confirmed for Han Solo film
For the last few weeks it was reported that Woody Harrelson was in talks to join the upcoming young Han Solo movie. Today we got confirmation from StarWars.com that Woody is in fact joining the already impressive cast. According to the site,
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” said the film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
Woody brings a veteran presence to the movie having starred in a wide range of films and television series. From Cheers to True Detective the actor has also starred in the Hunger Games franchise, No Country for Old Men, and Zombieland. Harrelson is also set to play the lead villain in the upcoming 20th Century Fox film, ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’. No details have been released on who he will be playing in the Han Solo film. The Han Solo film follows the space pirates early days before meeting Luke Skywalker and the Battle of Yavin. It will also give us more of a look at the rocky relationship between Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).
I can say that my excitement for this film just grew exponentially with this confirmation that Woody Harrelson will be in the film. I really hope he plays a villain but my gut extinct leads me to believe he will play some sort of mentor or maybe even Han Solo’s father perhaps. How do you feel about this confirmed casting?
