WrestleMania 33 Predictions

Wrestlemania 33

‘Tis the season. Wrestlemania is finally here oh it’s true, it’s damn true! And with that myself along with a few of the other writers here at My Fantasy Sports Talk will do our best to give you our insight and predictions for the this Sunday’s stacked card for the biggest event of the year. Here’s to hoping that Wrestlemania 33 isn’t a letdown and will surpass expectations.

Hosts: The New Day

*Preshow*

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Orlando: Braun Strowman

This should be a no-brainer. Triple H came out on his podcast the other day and talked this guy up as being the perfect heel they’ve been searching for. This is the perfect bounce-back from after losing clean to Vince’s golden boy at Fast lane.

Matt: Braun Strowman

In the 4th annual battle royal, there isn’t anyone else that deserves to win this than Braun Strowman. Personally, I think he deserves better than this match, but it is what it is. He’ll have his showdown with the Big Show and eliminate him. If WWE goes the “surprise” route, I’ll take Sami Zayn. Otherwise, give me Braun Strowman.

Javier:

They need to give him this win to start building him back up after destroying him for no reason. (Fastlane I hate you) This battle royal is meaning less and less with each passing year.

Brandon: Braun Strowman

Braun has been built up for months as this monster, and for him to lose would deflate all the work he’s done in the WWE. He will be in the main event scene soon enough, and this could be the start of that.

WWE Cruiser weight championship: Austin Aries vs Neville (c)

Orlando: Aries

It’s a shame that this match got shoved to the preshow, this is a potential match of the night candidate, and these two cruiserweight warriors look to steal the show.

Matt: Aries

The fact that this match was relegated to the kickoff show just shows that WWE still isn’t taking the cruiserweights seriously. Aries and Neville will put on a great match, time permitting. If these guys get 10-15 minutes, it’ll easily be the best cruiserweight match to date. I’m gonna go with Austin Aries becoming the NEW Cruiserweight champ.

Javier: Aries

This is going to be the feud that will save the cruiser weight division. I can not wait for this match, rumor has it that it was put on the pre show as to not overshadow the other matches. booooourns!

Brandon: Aries

While Neville winning makes sense, so does having Aries win. Aries and Neville can keep this rivalry going for months and keep battling until someone replaces Neville.

Dillon: Aries

Smackdown Women’s Title Match: Mickie James vs Carmella vs Natalya vs Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss (c) (other participants possible)

Orlando: Asuka

I’m going out on a limb here because currently Asuka isn’t even on the main roster and is currently the NXT Women’s champion, but Saturday night at NXT Takeover I expect her to drop the title to Moon, setting up her epic main roster debut.

Matt: Naomi

The deck is stacked against Alexa Bliss in this one. Expect to see some surprises, like the return of Kelly Kelly. The biggest surprise of them all will be the return of the injured Naomi, who returns to her hometown and regains the Women’s Championship that she never lost.

Javier: Naomi

I actually popped when I saw her return on Tuesday and I sincerely hope she wins it. Naomi really deserves it and has the athleticism to go toe to toe with even the raw girls.

Brandon: Mickie James

James is back and winning the title would be a great thing for Smackdown. You can have her feud with Bliss then Lynch afterwards, the list goes on. With the title bouncing around as of late, Mickie can make a powerful champion.

Main Card

Raw WWE Tag Team championship Ladder match: Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs Cesar’s and Sheamus vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson (c)

Orlando: Enzo Amore and Big Cass

With huge rumors going on about the Hardy’s headed to the WWE, and speculation that they could enter this match with the ladder stipulation being added anything can happen. But assuming that we’re going to only see all three participating tag teams, I think it won’t be much longer before Amore and Cass get split up and each get solo runs. Making them tag champs would be a great thing.

Matt: Enzo Amore and Big Cass

With the ladder stipulation being added to this match, I’m even more ready for it. These three teams will put on a great match that will be containing some nice ladder spots. With the IC Title ladder match not happening this year, this will be a great second option. Give me Enzo & Cass getting their “Wrestlemania moment” and capturing the RAW Tag Team titles.

Javier: Enzo Amore and Big Cass

I am rooting for the club but something tells me it’s time for Enzo and Cass to finally hold that title.

Brandon: Enzo Amore and Big Cass

Adding the ladder stipulation does make this match more interesting, and it is time they win the titles. They can make the titles seem worthy on Raw as the Mew Day have lost their luster.

Dillon: Amore and Big Cass

Smackdown WWE Intercontinental championship match: Baron Corbin vs Dean Ambrose (c)

Orlando: Corbin

I’m expecting a lot out of this match. I love both competitors, and both have come a long way. Ambrose is a former world champion and has nothing to lose here, Corbin on the other hand can be another scary monster the WWE needs to possibly cross paths against Strowman one day.

Matt: Corbin

I would’ve liked to see this match as a no-DQ match. I really think that would have brought even more out of these two in what has already been a good feud. Corbin MUST win this. He needs the title more than Ambrose and deserves his first major title on the main roster.

Javier: Corbin

Dean hasn’t really done much since winning the title and I feel that if they want to push Corbin the way they seem to be doing then it should continue with a title reign.

Brandon: Corbin

Ambrose hasn’t defended the title in a long time, and Corbin is the perfect opponent for him. Corbin isn’t ready just yet for the main event scene, so winning this title could help him look strong for a while before competing for the world championship.

Dillon: Ambrose

Raw WWE Women’s Championship Elimination match: Nia JAX vs Charlotte vs Sasha Banks vs Bayley (c)

Orlando: Nia Jax

I would’ve went with Bayley here if Charlotte’s undefeated PPV streak would’ve been on the line, and if Bayley wouldn’t have won at Fastlane. This would’ve been Bayley’s Wrestlemania moment, but instead I think we see yet another champion crowned, and what a better way than giving it to the power house in JAX.

Matt: Bayley

I don’t particularly like that they made this an elimination match. I like the thrill of everyone having a chance at any time and it would create more chance of a surprise winner. Either way, it’ll be a good match and Bayley will retain and eliminate Charlotte last. Save Sasha’s heel turn on Bayley for the RAW after Wrestlemania.

Javier: Charlotte

This is the match that I have no idea who may win, it could be anyone. I’m going with the one that has the best mic work and ring skills.

Brandon: Sasha Banks

While I believe Bayley should win, I could see Sasha making a heel turn here for the win. I can see Banks and Bayley working together till Sasha betrays Bayley to win the title.

Dillon: Sasha Banks

John Cena and Nikki Bella vs The Miz and Maryse

Orlando: Cena and Bella

Look I don’t even have to break down this match to tell you who’s going to win. I’m still scratching my head as to why this even made the card. Cena and Miz deserve better than this, but if Nikki is indeed retiring than what better way than to finish teaming up with her real life partner in Cena.

Matt: Cena and Bella

This feud has been enjoyable to watch. I really liked the Miz & Maryse’s impersonations of John Cena & Nikki Bella. I can’t see Cena & Nikki losing here. I also think the rumors of Cena proposing after the match will actually happen too.

Javier: Cena and Bella

Waste of a Wrestlemania slot.

Brandon: Cena and Bella

Cena and Bella’s won’t lose this one here. Especially with the idea of Cena proposing to Nikki after the match wouldn’t make sense to have them lose.

Dillon: Cena and Bella

Triple H vs Seth Rollins Non – Sanctioned Match:

Orlando: Rollins

I’ve enjoyed the hell out of this feud, and the WWE has played it well when it comes figuring out if Rollins is actually healthy enough to wrestle this match, the architect ends this feud with a victory.

Matt: Rollins

If Seth Rollins is anywhere near 100%, this match will be one of the best on the card. These two will put it all out there in this non-sanctioned match. For the attitude era fans, expect to see some blood in this one! Seth has to go over here and slay the king.

Javier: Rollins

I am so caught in the emotion of this rivalry. I am truly rooting for Seth and hope that he gets his revenge and wins. Lets hope we finally get to see Triple H lose by way of his own finisher.

Brandon: Rollins

Rollins will get his revenge on Triple-H turning on him to get him Kevin Owens the title. Rollins will fake injury and act like he is still hurt until he puts Triple-H away.

Dillon: Rollins

WWE United States Championship Match: Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho (c)

Orlando: Owens

I was excited a few weeks ago when Jericho beat Reigns for the US title, but his run as champion has been disappointing only because he simply hasn’t defended it. This is a rivalry that’s been boiling for a good while, and these two could possibly steal the show.

Matt: Owens

The most entertaining thing on RAW over the past year was the friendship of Y2J and KO. We all knew it would end and ending it at Wrestlemania is the perfect stage for both of these guys. Jericho is wrestling at his best, and KO is naturally amazing in the ring. This will be a GREAT match, and it’s hard to believe Y2J won’t do the job to push Kevin Owens further.

Javier: Owens

He needs the bounce back win especially since Jericho will be going on hiatus sooner rather than later.

Brandon: Owens

Y2J has nothing to gain from a victory here. The United States Championship hasn’t been defended in months, and with the title likely moving over to Owens it could be start of many good rivalries.

Dillon: Jericho

AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon

Orlando: Styles

I’m torn between this match. We all know it’s going to be good, but can it be great? That depends on Shane. It’s a shame the WWE couldn’t find a quality opponent for Styles on the grandest stage of them all, but unlike Vince, Shane will have no problem putting Styles over as he should.

Matt: Styles

A nice little feud thrown together over the past month to get AJ Styles a Wrestlemania match. He’s main event material, and it looks like WWE is holding off another year before having him main event the biggest PPV of the year. Can anyone really see AJ go 0-2 at Wrestlemania after a surprising loss to Chris Jericho last year?

Javier: Styles

Please don’t make Styles job to Shane. Please don’t make Styles job to Shane. Please don’t make Styles job to Shane. The man needs this victory so bad he has been getting screwed over and over week after week and he has the best ring work out of the whole Smackdown roster. For the love of god please don’t make Styles job to Shane.

Brandon: Styles

AJ had a great year and is now put into a senseless match against Shane. While Shane has nothing to lose, a loss here could be shoved down his face until we see Styles traded to Raw or drafted.

Dillon: Shane

Roman Reigns vs The Undertaker

Orlando: Undertaker

I refuse to choose Reigns over the Deadman. While this is likely to happen, I could see a scenario where Taker gets the victory to avoid a second loss at Wrestlemania and Reigns going berserk afterwards and beating the crap out of Taker afterwards starting his heel turn.

Matt: Undertaker

Whose yard is it? This match really could go either way. With all the teasing over the past couple of weeks on RAW, Roman HAS to complete the heel turn at Wrestlemania. If he has to win with heel tactics, then so be it. But if the rumors are true that this might be the end of Taker’s run, then he can’t lose. I really just hope Braun Strowman doesn’t show up and cost Taker the match, and thus keep Roman as a babyface.

Javier: Reigns

With the rumors swirling of the Undertaker’s impending retirement. My money is on the “heel”.

Brandon: Reigns

Roman winning could be a passing of the torch or “whose yard is it” and the WWE likes to send out legends on a loss, with rumors of this being Takers final mania this would make sense to have Reigns go over.

Dillon: Undertaker

Raw WWE Universal  Championship Match: Brock Lesnar vs Bill Goldberg (c)

Orlando: Lesnar

Yawn I’m not intrigued by this match. Love both guys, but I’m worried about Goldberg. Hopefully the ambulances are nearby just in case this match goes over two minutes.

Matt: Lesnar

I don’t think this should be the main event, but it will be. Goldberg has constantly one-upped Brock Lesnar since their match at Survivor Series. It finally ends at Wrestlemania. Brock will finally overcome Goldberg and take him to suplex city. I just hope this goes longer than 5 or 10 minutes.

Javier: Lesnar

This match is going to be better than most people realize. I can’t wait for Brock to get his win back and be an actually fighting champion this year.

Brandon: Lesnar

While Goldberg is the legend here that is likely to lose, Lesnar is still a part-timer and having hold the title to a possible showdown with Reigns seems pointless. Nobody wants to see that again.

Dillon: Lesnar

Smackdown WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt (c)

Orlando: Wyatt

If Wyatt loses I’ll smash my TV. Nothing against the Viper, I love Orton but he’s already established himself as a future hall of famer and is a 12- time world champion. The WWE have been building up Wyatt the past four years, and have failed by having him lose every time he’s in a big match. Luke Harper gets involved here that for sure, but not sure what role he’ll play.

Matt: Wyatt

I have waited too long to see Bray get a WWE Championship run, and I’d hate to see it end at Wrestlemania. Everyone saw the eventual turn by Randy coming and this will be another great match between two of my favorite superstars. I can see Luke Harper, and a returning Erick Rowan interfering in this one.

Javier: Wyatt

My head says Randy but my heart, my heart says Bray. His entrance alone is something I’m really looking forward to. It has been his time for a while and the era of Wyatt will continue past Wrestlemania.

Brandon: Orton

I love Wyatt as champion, but the momentum is in Orton’s favor. He suckered Wyatt into getting rid of Harper so he could interfere when Orton struck, and the burning of Wyatt’s home sent a clear message.

Dillon: Orton
