Match Preview and Predictions
The Usos vs. Breezango
This match was announced on Friday as a pre-show match. The Usos are on Smackdown and will most likely be the top team on that brand, and a win against Breezango will show how dominant that they will be once again.
The Usos win via pinfall.
Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens
This rivalry has been going on since 2014 and will end here at Battleground with both superstars on separate shows now. It all began when Sami Zayn won the NXT championship from Neville and his friend Kevin Owens went out to congratulate him on his victory, only to attack him. Just two months later Owens would beat Zayn for the title. Zayn would be out with an injury for almost a year and he would debut to the main roster at the Royal Rumble and he eliminated Owens from the match. At Payback, Owens would defeat Zayn once again and at Money in the Bank both men would lose the match to Dean Ambrose. Last month Zayn beat Owens in a match on Raw and challenged him to a match at Battleground where Owens would accept.
This match could go either way. Owens is on raw and a win over Zayn could show his dominance, but Zayn is on smackdown and he is going to have to look strong as well and a win over Owens would be really good for him. With Owens winning most of these matches, you have to believe Zayn will win at a PPV and will end the rivalry with him on top.
Zayn wins via pinfall.
Becky Lynch vs. Natalya
At Money in the Bank last month, Lynch and Natalya took on Charlotte and Dana Brooke and lost the match. After the match, Natalya turned on Lynch and attacked her. The next night on RAW, Natalya attacked Lynch again, saying she is looking out for herself only. Then on the next RAW, Natalya was on commentary before her match against Summer Rae and Lynch got her revenge and attacked her. On the 4th of July raw, it was announced that these women will duke it out at Battleground.
Natalya had a heel turn at Money in the Bank and mostly has dominated against Lynch since turning heel. Lynch is a fan favorite and will finally get her revenge against Natalya.
Becky Lynch wins via pinfall.
The New Day vs. The Wyatt Family
This match is interesting. The New Day finally have a challenge in a tag team faction, but it isn’t for the titles. The Wyatts have been messing with Xavier Woods out of The New Day since they have returned and now after Battleground, the Wyatts will be split up with Braun Strowman going to RAW while Erick Rowan and Bray Wyatt are on Smackdown.
The New Day will still be the top tag team in the WWE after this match and with the Wyatts getting split up, and with a victory over them, The New Day wouldn’t have to worry about them and they can use in a promo how they have defeated the negativity in the Wyatts and that no evil can ever lose the positivity of The New Day and Xavier Woods will be the one to get the pin here.
The New Day wins via pinfall.
Sasha Banks and TBD vs. Charlotte and Dana Brooke
Sasha Banks returned early June and started her feud again with Charlotte. Sasha rescued Paige from an attack from Charlotte and Brooke and the next week on RAW they would team up and defeat the two of them. Sasha was looking for a title shot against Charlotte and defeated Brooke in a one on one match on RAW and Smackdown. She didn’t get her title shot, but her and a mystery partner will take on Charlotte and Brooke at Battleground.
We don’t know who the mystery partner could be. With Banks and Paige teaming up before and defeating Charlotte and Brooke, it could be her. It could be any of the NXT women that got called up during the WWE draft, who knows. All in all, Banks and her partner will win this match and she will demand a title shot at Summerslam.
Sasha Banks and TBD win via submission.
The Miz (c) vs. Darren Young for the Intercontinental Championship
There was a battle royal to determine who would take on The Miz and his Intercontinental championship at Battleground and Darren Young won that battle royal. Since winning that battle royal, Bob Buckland has been Young’s manager and a good one at that. Whoever wins this match will bring the title to their own show, RAW or Smackdown. With RAW being the longer, and more successful show, it would make sense to have the more prestigious middle card title (The United States Championship) to stay on it, which means Darren Young will not win this match and the Intercontinental championship will stay on Smackdown.
The Miz wins via pinfall.
Rusev (c) vs. Zack Ryder for the U.S. Championship
Zack Ryder defeated Sheamus on Smackdown in July and challenged Rusev to a match at Battleground for the championship. After his match against Sheamus on RAW four days later, Rusev attacked Ryder and accepted his challenge. With the reasons stated as above, the U.S. championship will stay on RAW and with that Rusev will win this match.
Rusev wins via pinfall.
John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. The Club
Cena and Styles have been going at it for a while now and on the 4th of July episode of RAW The Club attacked Cena, but this time Enzo Amore and Big Cass came out to save Cena. After the event the match was announced at Battleground.
This will be the last match The Club will be together as Styles was drafted to Smackdown while Anderson and Gallows are on RAW. Cena is also on Smackdown, so you know whoever wins the match, it won’t be the end of the rivalry. Styles won at Money in the Bank, so you should expect Cena, Amore and Cass will take this win and have Cena even up the series one to one, leading to the deciding match at Summerslam.
John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass win via pinfall.
Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship
At Money in the Bank, Rollins defeated Reigns to become the new WWE champion. Ambrose came out and cashed in his money in the bank briefcase and defeated Rollins to become the champion. Rollins and Reigns took each other on the next night on RAW to determine who would be the number one contender. The match ended in a double countout, Ambrose requested to defend his title against both men at Battleground. The next day after RAW, Roman Reigns was suspended for 30 days for violating the WWE Wellness Policy, but he would return for the match at Battleground. WWE knew about his failed drug test before Money in the Bank and that was why he lost his title and wrestled on RAW the next nigh to set up the main event.
Rollins and Ambrose talked about the suspension the next week on RAW and Stephanie McMahon didn’t remove Reigns from the match, but gave AJ Syles and John Cena chances to be put in the match. Styles and Cena both lost and the match stayed as a triple threat. This week on RAW, Ambrose took on Rollins for the title and the match ended in a draw and he kept the title. The next night on Smackdown Rollins got his second chance at the title but he would lose to Dean Ambrose and going into Battleground Ambrose will be the champion.
Now with the brand split up, Ambrose is on Smackdown and Rollins and Reigns are on RAW. You have to expect a new champion to be crowned either the next night on RAW, Tuesday on Smackdown or a match will be determined at Summerslam to determine that. You can’t expect Reigns to win this after coming off a suspension, so knock him out here. Rollins would be a good choice here as the champion as Ambrose could battle for the Smackdown championship against somebody if he loses, but the WWE universe loves Ambrose and having him be the champion for only one month would be straight robbery. Ambrose will win this match and Rollins will take on Reigns for the RAW championship at Summerslam.
Dean Ambrose wins via pinfall.https://www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wwe-battleground-preview/https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/hqdefault-6.jpg?fit=480%2C360&ssl=1https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/hqdefault-6.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1Combat SportsEntertainmentRecent PostsWWEbattleground,Dean Ambrose,Roman Reigns,Seth Rollins, wwe,WWE BattlegroundTomorrow at 8 pm est. is the next WWE PPV installment called WWE Battleground.
