Yan Gomes has been diagnosed with a sprained right knee and will be out at least six weeks. Gomes was injured when Detroit Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis slid into his knee during a close play at home-plate during the Tigers 9-6 victory in Cleveland.

Backup catcher Roberto Perez will step in at catcher for the Tribe, who will sorely miss Gomes as he was a spectacular defender, but more importantly was a big bat in the middle of the lineup. In 2014, Gomes hit .278 with 21 HRs and 74 RBI a crucial piece in the Indians playoffs hopes.

Corey Kluber started yesterday’s game going 6.1 innings allowing two runs, while striking out ten batters. Here was his take on the game and the Gomes injury afterwards…
